If you think Alex McLeish has an uneasy relationship with Villa fans after crossing the Birmingham divide, spare a thought for Tommy Mooney.

The former Blues striker is now on McLeish’s youth team coaching staff – but attends first team games at Villa Park in disguise to prevent getting hassle from home fans with long memories.

Apologies if this has been posted before, but it's the first I've heard of it. Can't help but wonder why on earth someone like him would be hired, reeks of incompetence to me, and I'm by no means one of the doom and gloom brigade.

Perhaps because he is good at his job?

Personally,I wouldn't recognise him if he was in my local sainsburys dressed in a blues tutu.

Can't imagine too many of our faithful having more than a vague recollection of him playing for them

Didn't he start out as a apprentice at Villa?

Fucking hell, some people will moan about anything. As Lee said, maybe he's good at his job?

Maybe he can bring the thing lots of the youth team appear to not have traditionally had, the drive, desire and application to go along with their talent?

I don't care where he used to play if he can turn more of the youth team into first team regulars.

As for attending in disguise, I think wearing the stilletos and ball gown is taking it too far.

If he's doing a good job, I couldn't care a less that he played for them.

If Paul Tait was a top youth coach I'd hire him without blinking.
I'd shit in his lunch box mind.
