Villa related - Cahill question
« on: January 23, 2012, 04:43:31 PM »
Quick question - please delete if this has been covered elsewhere - didn't we agree some sort of sell on clause when we flogged Cahill to Bolton?

I'm sure we did

It's 15% of Bolton's profit above the £5m they paid for him, so £300k to us.

I've asked this on lots of different threads but despite helpful replies like John's confirming it's 15% of the profit as I thought, why have none of the media mentioned it? Shit journalism or barely worth a byline?

It makes me sleep a bit easier knowing Emile's wages for the next five weeks are looked-after.

Seriously though, just thought it a bit remiss of journalists. It's not a huge amount but it's still part of the transfer fee that seems to have been overlooked.

How much would we have got if they'd sold him for 18m last summer as was being mooted?

Just shy of £2m presumably.
It was never going to be much, 15% of any profit, barely worth arguing with in negotiations. Do we have any other similar clauses on players (Ridgewell?)?

Hmmm oh for a Levy negotiating the deals!

Pretty sure if QPR sell Tarrarbt for 10m ish, Spurs have a 40% sell on clause in the deal.

Oh I miss the days of Ellis and Ehiogu :)

I think they should offer me a job at Villa helping them making deals. I can't do it worse than Faulkner - can I ? (ofcourse I could)
