Will never forget when that diving header went in.  Easily the best game of football I've ever been at, a magical day, even better than the final for me.

I agree Risso, better than the final for me too, Villa Park absolutely rocking like it should.

I'm lucky enough to say Rotterdam shades it though......

Oh for those days again.

Same for me, Risso.  What a day.

Good luck, Shaun.   You always gave the impression that you loved the opportunity that the Villa gave you to play in the top flight and gave everything to the cause.   I just wish that quite a few of those who've passed through the home dressing room since shared that attitude and commitment.   We'd be a much more successful, happier club if they had/did.

The first, and only name I've ever had on the back of my Villa shirt was Teale.  An immense defender, and more than useful at set plays, as was shown with the goal against Tranmere, such desire to get on the end of the cross and an excellent finish.

Shaun Teale man of Steel is also quite possible the bext cartoon strip that H&V has ever done.

Make a swift recovery Shaun

Good luck and get well soon.

Absolutely.

Do you know if that's a problem stemming from his playing days or something else?

Don't know, but players are liable to such problems.

That's what I thought, especially with the way he played and the length of his career. Hope he's OK.

Going off at a slight tangent I read tonight that footballers are 1,000 times more likely to suffer from osteoporosis than any other occupation. That's something to remember when we complain about their wages.

I think you have mis-read that. They are more likely to get osteoarthritis (arthritis due to wear and tear) than osteporosis which is bone thinning. Osteoporosis is linked to lack of exercise (bone mass increases with exercise) and loss of oestrogen - hence common in grannies not retired footballers!

Back on track - sounds as if Mr. Teale has a arthritic lower back with some of the vertebrae slipping over each other!

Wow, a Villa player posting on here...has it ever happened before?

All the best Shaun, I see from twitter you're still in touch with your old defensive partner.

All the best for the surgery, Shaun and I hope you are completely recovered and bouncing around as soon as possible, afterwards! Thanks for the Villa years!

I've exchanged messages with Shaun on facebook a few times, he's a bloody top bloke and clearly still loves the Villa. Get well soon matey!

Warnock wouldn't be performing as bad as he is at present if he'd got Shaun alongside him that's for sure.

Great player and great man. Wouldn't surprise me if he was carrying out the operation himself.

All the best Shaun. Wishing you a full and complete recovery.

Sorry, my mistake, it was osteoarthritis.
