all my sent messges [not actually that many] disapear,
 when i go into my 'sent' history there is nothing there, my 'in' messages are ok though.

i have never had them since the 'big change' but havent been that bothrered, just wondered if there was something i'm not doing corectly ?

When you send a PM there is a box you have tick to save the sent message.

"Save a copy in my outbox."

Just make sure you tick it before you send the message.
