Something like this must surely take up a massive proportion of Birmingham's coach capacity. Hardings as mentioned, Den Caney, Ellisons, Hollywood, all the big dogs of the coach world will be coiniing it in.

They'll probably have to resort to hiring Transits from Shirley-U-Drive.

We may even see the return of Sealandair for coach 1 with all the old faces on board. Muffin and his mates. Women who would pass sandwiches around the coach. Any young person being very well behaved and treated like a grandchild by all the old folk on board. That was the old Travellers Club. By the time the young ones got back on after the match, they would be pissed and the 'family' would disown them until the next trip.

There was a cup final in Cardiff where Arsenal were hiring coaches from Belgium.

There may have been a cup final in London when Man U hired coaches in Manchester.

There were so many coaches for Arsenal away in 80-81 that I was Steward on coach 78, or thereabouts. My duties involved selling cans of pop, bags of crisps and Villa Bingo tickets. The return journey was not so staid.

Don't forget johnsons from our neck of the wood.

Me and the Mrs were driving through Italy last summer, and got stuck waiting in a huge queue on the motorway at the toll booths.

I looked to the right, and saw three Johnsons coaches in a row.

I'm not too proud to admit, it fair brought a tear to my eye, seeing a little chunk of Henley in Arden there, the other side of Europe.

That's unfair. It's still £35 for an adult ticket and thousands are willing to give over  the whole of their Sunday to back us in a contest where the bookies will still have Arse as favourites to go through. Money is tight for a lot of people and the free travel just makes it a more economically realistic choice for many. Hopefully, with us having almost as many away fans for this as Wolves/SHA could muster between them for a local derby game tonight, the Cup will weave a little magic in our favour.
I'm only jealous Andy because I can't go, not seriously knocking anyone who travels away in these times - I remember going to Everton in 2000 when we took loads, one of my fav Villa away days. The poor allocations mean the FA Cup is the only chance we have these days to recreate those mass invasion forces of yesteryear where the home fans just look in shock at the hordes of claret and blue. It will be magic and about time we made some new memories.....

I wonder how many returned that day? We lost a lot of good men out there.

Any ideas on how you get more than one ticket for this if you just have the one client reference number? I would quite like to take my wife so she can sample a special Villa day out

They start going on sale to non season-tickets holders starting from tomorrow (friday). Check here and scroll down. It says that from this Tuesday they are on sale to anybody with any sort of ticket purchasing history - I would interpret that as being as long as your not walking in the ticket office wearing an Arsenal hat they are unlikely to refuse anybody tickets.

I take it you're sorted now Richard.

I wasn't going to go, but I've been swept along on the tidal wave of Cup Fever that's sweeping H & V, and have just bought a couple of tickets.!

It's great to feel this enthusiasm on H&V and elsewhere. Just like old times! Let's hope that the team rise to the occasion too.

I am hoping to get there Ken through the good offices of someone on here but will have to wait until Tuesday I think to use my booking history + their client ref - unless someone has two spare client references going which fit the criteria and give me access to getting tickets prior to then. As Frank says, it will be just like old times. I also have to say that it is at times like this that one really appreciates the kindness of the 'Villa family' here on H and V
