He was a decent keeper and he bounced back somewhat from the St Andrews game then had a couple of Monday night live mares against Southampton and Blues at Villa Park. 'I don't like Monday's' could have been written for him. I will never forget being at St Andrews that night, looking away during what I thought was a lull in play, then hearing a strange kind of cheering/jeering and seeing noses celebrating. I had to piece together what happened by listening to the people around me.

According to the report from that game he was also at fault for the first goal.

His girlfriend worked at my company before I joined, and she turned up at an xmas party a few years ago to see some of her old mates. I asked her about the famous incident and she said that the club - manager, coaches, and some players - never really gave him the support he needed after that goal. He did get a text of support from Schmeichel however....

He never felt at ease after that she reckoned. A keeper of promise who shall forever be associated with that night and that mistake. He was brilliant at Upton Park in the 2-2 draw in April 1983 though.

Enkelman was a decent keeper for us overall. Unfortunately for him, some fans will only remember him for that infamous incident. Not fair really, but that's the goalkeeper's lot.

He could be found in bed with HM the Queen in cocaine-fuelled orgy and still be best remembered for THAT goal

It must have crossed his mind.  His big chance to banish the demons.

He didn't touch the ball and the referee is to blame. VAR would have ruled it out fer sure. Well, if it was one of them teams it would anyway

VAR would've bollocksed it up and the FA would have had to 'clarify' the rules afterwards.

VAR would have said it wasn't a clear and obvious error.

Vassells 'equaliser' was a worse decision. They used up a centuries worth of luck against us in those first couple of years.
