Pleased to hear it.  It was a regular haunt of mine back in my student days and a real favourite.  Also The Museum Vaults.   There was another I went to that I really liked in Hendon, but I can't for the life of me remember the name.  I usually went there with a couple of mates if the Third XI had had a game of football on a Saturday afternoon: a real spit and sawdust place with the same three old blokes at the bar.  We went in once and landlord was out.  The blokes just told us to help ourselves and put the money in the honesty box...

Less favourable mentions also to the Londonderry in the town - whoops - city centre, simply because one evening it kicked off in the there big time and the girl I was with never really forgave me and The Royalty, the sort of pub I hate but I spent far too much time and money in there because it was so convenient.

I spent a year living on Fulwell Road and whilst I was there, a friend of mine from back home came up for an interview at Newcastle Poly.  It was the night you played Chelsea in the home leg of the Milk Cup semi-final.  I met him at Seaburn Station and we went for a quick pint at The Bluebell before going back to the house.  We finished our drinks and had walked about 20 yards down the road towards Roker when all we heard was shouting and the sound of the pub windows being put in. Chelsea fans were such a classy lot back then...

Davey, I know you are high on the win today, but realistically you struggled, and should have been 2-0 down against a very poor side. MON is a decent manager no more, and you will find that out in time. Greatness should be reserved for just that, greatness.

Most of those pubs are still going! The Londonderry is my favourite pub in the town centre! Was the Hendon pub "The Corner House?"

It was a weird one. From what we gathered, somebody who did a website worked for an advertising agency who thought there was a market for a glossy, very pro-the club line magazine. There wasn't. I think they gave up after one day when we sold more than they could give away.

Hi Davey Allways good to have a sensible  fan from another team on here. Yeh putting it into perspective I can imagine what this new dawn feels like. We had the same feeling when MON came walking in and a new owner as well. It all looked great for a couple of seasons and then through poor transfer dealings (he made some good ones and some awful ones), stubourness and limited tactical awareness it all got too much for him. He walked leaving us with a squad of over paid players that we could not move on and some of them are still here. Maybe he has learnt from his expereiences with us. Also our owner has to take some responsibility for the mess that we are still trying to sort out since his departure. Anyway enjoy the ride. All the best Hawkeye

I remember being given one outside the ground, it was the most partizan every thing in the garden is rosie thing that i have ever read. I could not understand why it wasnt part of the match day programme as it was so obvioulsy paid for by the club.

It wasn't, though. It was totally independent. They thought being pro-club would boost sales but there was just nothing in there worth reading.

Point honestly taken Jim, and yes, i'm certainly buzzing mate, of that there is no doubt. But, he's still great to me! He was great to me when he was at Leicester, what he achieved with practically nowt! He was great even more so when he was at Villa, maybe assisted due to my soft spot for them, and now he's at my hometown club, which he supported as a boy. Today was thrilling, Roy of the Rovers stuff, for the first time in a long long time Jim, I feel great about my hometown football club. For that alone, i think Martin O' Neill is great!  :)

The reason I thought it was official and I must have got at least 2 copies was the access they appeared to have to players and staff. Maybe it was just BS. I will at some point drag them out from my box full of old programmes and fanzines.

I can't remember them having much 'inside' material but to be honest I didn't pay it much attention.
