Of the three mentioned:-

Ireland - his days are surely numbered here, but we'll have to pay him off to get rid of him.
Petrov - can't see him going anywhere until the summer at least.
Cuellar -  shame, but he'll be gone at the end of the season, so if we can get some cash now and free up some space on the wagebill then we should.

Incoming wise, I can only see a midfielder to replace Jenas, but I have no idea who.

I think MON could sign the Toga Zinedine Zidane  for Sunderland yet .

I'd gladly let him take either Dunne or Collins and they can take Ireland too, then Clark and Gardner can come in and we can get Samba or let Cuellar see out his contract but I can't see it happening.

I would be amazed if Petrov left purely because he has 18 months left on his current contract and at his age he aint going to get money like it again

I think the Petrov 'link' is just an absolute shot in the dark. Given our midfield options, we simply can't sell him in January, unless we have a couple of top-class players coming in. Petrov has played pretty well this season and now, without Jenas to call on, we have a real lack of experience in midfield.

Ireland appears to be going absolutely nowhere with us, though I'm not sure who would take him; Cuellar simply isn't being used and with six months remaining on his deal I think he'll the player to leave.

Whats the betting that Cuellar will be part of a deal to bring a Rangers player to VP?  I think the Steven Davis move could well be one as part of a deal to take Carlos back up norf!

Petrov should stay; the midfield works far better with him in it.

It does and is a fact that only the most blinkered would deny.

Maybe for 60mins the midfield works fine but after that, he clearly runs out of steam.

In that case, we're better off either signing a new, top-class (or very good) midfielder to start ahead of Petrov (him coming on after 60-odd mins) or someone to replace Petrov when he tires. Now that Jenas is out of the equation, we need a player to replace him - just don't see us being able to sign two midfielders of genuine quality so Petrov must stay, in January at least.

I used to call him the 60-minute man but this season he seems to have found a new lease of life and is coping with the full game. Herd's influence perhaps?

Gardner will be in the first XI at West Bromwich Albion by February - but his first name will be Craig.

Fixed

12 months ago id be all for getting rid of him,but he's been pretty consistant in a poor team so far this season,Herd has definately helped him this season, and as we wouldnt get big money fo him,i cant see the point of getting shot of him.
