Well, when you think that people who don't share your view on things aren't "supporters" then any claims to be rational aren't really based on much.  And you should really have a read over your own posts, I'd say a good 90% of them are you whining irrationally about other posters.

The only people who say we're struggling are Villa supporters.

Being fairly detached from things up here I can guarantee you that it isn't the case, i'm forever being told by various people that Villa are their outside bets to go down this season. I'm fairly confident Villa will establish themselves as a lower mid table side this season and in the years to come.

Let's say then that the most irrational, hysterical whining comes from amongst the ranks of our own.

Yes, and you get fans of Arsenal saying Fergie or Wenger should now leave whenever they lose a match. There is always the lunatic element in any support, but as I mentioned earlier, home fans see more of their own team so will be more critical if they think they should. DCF says Bent should be dropped as he is lazy, yet most outside of the Villa will say why drop your top goal scorer?

The first sentence is not what I said at all and the second is a lie.

Compass-types excepted.

Villa winning will have spoilt his weekend, along with a few others.
Long live McLeish as Villa manager.
Maybe AM has become aware of our problems in recent games?

Bloody right. Those figures don't account for any of the condescending, repetetive inferences that hint at, but never prove, inside knowledge.

A must win game given our next four fixtures and we did just about.

I would like to think this game will give McLeish ideas we can actually pass the ball and create problems and chances against Arsenal and Liverpool but not holding my breath.

What I do predict is we'll continue getting results against the worst teams in the league and McLeish will limp through to the end of the season.

Dave, there were a number of articles last week that criticised McLeish's tactics and inferred we are strugggling.  Ray Stubbs started it off, then there was a Guardian Article.  The fact that he has been forced to defend his apparent reputation as a negative manager hints that there has been a bit of a backlash outside the main fanbase.

I wasn't trying to catch you out, nor to appear clever; I haven't got an internet playground to bully thick kids in so you carry on. I bet it's a right laugh.

We're not struggling. We ought to be, but we are not. The current PL is probably the weakest it has been for years.

We are currently 8th because we have been the best of the dross so far, despite poor football. Whether we stay there or thereabouts   is anyone's guess.

This season was always going to be about how many teams are worse than us. So far it seems that there will be quite a few.

It doesn't matter whether being the best of a bad bunch means we finish 8th, 12th or 17th. We should be doing a lot better than we are, we should be playing a lot better than we do.

As delighted (and relieved) as I am that we won today, I think it's a bit overboard to say that playing reasonably well against the worst team in the division is a sign that things are ok down VP and there's no chance we will struggle.
I'm hoping we don't struggle, we have the players not to struggle but i'm still concerned over whether we will struggle or not based on our 15 games so far. Does that mean i'm not a fan all of a sudden?

Looked great going forward with immense pace, plus Guzan had a good solid game which impressed and admittedly suprised me.

All the people claiming Big 'Eck can only play defensive football surely should have shut up now, albeit if we sat back in the opening of the
second half a bit too much.

The only games we haven't played horrible, defensive football have been against Wigan, Blackburn and Bolton who are pretty much the 3 worst teams in the league. We played o.k at Sunderland who aren't far off those three.

If McLeish can conjour up a good passing attacking game against either Liverpool or Arsenal then he'll start getting more goodwill from me and others on this forum.

1st half best performance of the season minus the two dickheads in the centre of defence. 2nd half, we panicked a bit,. Overall well happy. BOLTON WERE PISH BUT YOU CAN ONLY BEAT WHAT'S AGAINST YER.

Sure is. And incidentally, it's 'repetitive.'
