My girlfriend is a teacher who has just left her job at a school in Wolverhampton, and I shit you not, one of her pupils insisted on bringing her a packet of bacon as his way of a gift!. He was only 5 mind. He said that he loves bacon so he thought that would be a good present.

Very nice bacon butties this morning.

That's ace.  Kids are brilliant like that.

I've seen the away kit on the telly, but hadn't seen it in the flesh at all until last night, when i saw a kid wearing one at the supermarket.

It's strange, you don't really realise just how bright it is till you actually see it.

Wait until you turn the lights off.

I was in the club shop earlier, I felt like I needed shades when looking at the wall of away shirts.

Looking at the facebook pictures in the Portland match thread it dawned on me that the new socks bare no resemblance to the colours of the shirt

The claret and especially the blue look unusually dull on the shirts compared to the socks

Or was this a bad image?

I pointed this out about 30 pages ago. In the shop in Bham, the socks are a darker blue than the shirts which is quite a pale blue. The blue on the socks is much closer to the traditional.

 It doesn't look very good.

Saw it for the first time in the flesh on the weekend and and it instantly reminded me of the pink NTL Diadorra kit we had.  Colours are all wrong.  Surely they could at least get the colours right?

Ok, first time I've seen the shirt today in the flesh so time for my official verdict...its a very nice shirt and well done to Macron.

Looks and feels much better up close than trying to get an opinion from online pics. The collar, cuffs and a few of the other features are very well designed. The material is very thin and light but feels quality so ideal for the players.

With regards to the colours, its quite obvious to me why the blue on the shirt is lighter than usual...and that is simply down to them matching the background colour of the badge to maintain consistency. Macron are designers as well as kit manufacturers, so if you want to blame someone for the wrong shade of blue, then blame Randy and whoever designed that shite effort of a badge design that is currently used to brand our club. Macron prob thought the same hence why the socks are a different colour, but for design and aesthetic purposes the blue on the shirt had to match the blue on the badge. Thats my take on it anyway.

The shirts are priced at £50 in JD Sports which is a bit expensive for a football shirt...are they cheaper anywhere else?

Overall verdict: very good shirt. I didnt have time to try it on, but considering buying this now instead of a Fred Perry if it fits well.

Mr. Lerner, Sir designed the crest.

Shirts are £45 in Sports Direct.

My take on the kit, for what it's worth

I took the kids to the Villa Village last week to buy some tat for them and I thought the kits looked terrible. The away kit looks like a high visibility vest worn by security guards (the friendly fella behind the counter was laughing with me about how bad it looks) and the home kit looked like the sort of nasty nylon worn by none-league clubs. The Macron training clothes were worse.

I'm no Gok Wan or a subscriber to Zoo magazine but I reckon I can spot rubbish when I see it.

I ended up buying some non-Macron t shirts for the kids instead.
