Living in Leeds I see a lot of macron stuff and have been told that the sizing is quite generous, so us chunky folk will be downsizing

If anything it is the opposite - I have Macron kit as I'm a coach of a kids team and our club use Macron. It tends to be smaller sized, where I am a M in Nike I am a L in Macron. Good quality gear though.

Just to clear up an issue that was doing the rounds on VT, not sure if its been mentioned here. I popped into my local sports shop in Evesham today to inquire about availability of the new shirts. They have already pre ordered all the shirts and various merchandise, which they say will be available probably same day as release if not then day later. So the comments that the shirts are only available from Villa park only are totally untrue.

the badge is a little too Chelsea for me. I like the current shield design a lot.

I'd be well happy with those, a hint of the 70's style in both shirt and badge, love it, great job.
