If you want a new villa shirt you will buy one whether its Nike or Macron

Are you saying that people buy a shirt because its Nike ? You wouldnt buy a Bham City shirt just because they were supplied by Nike would you ?

Think theres been a bit of a hysterical and irrational reaction to this announcement, for petes sake the club hasnt even launched the shirt yet and people are getting them selves into a mindset that they will not like it whatever it looks like based on the manufacturers name.

For goodness sake .... Get off the clubs back a little and give them chance.

If I remember rightly we had record shirt sales when our first Nike kits were released. How do you explain that?

So a new billionaire owner, a then respected manager, big money being spent and a massive feel good factor with the club had nothing to do with it, just the name of the shirt manufacturer.

TBH Macron is the shirt equivalent of McCleish. Taking over from a big name, that in reality were not very good for us, and with the club in decline, but they will be blamed exclusively for poor performances compared to previous incumbents.

But if they do have some responsibility themselves and can't do the short equivalent of starting with Heskey. (poor design)

Simple ... The club was on the crest of a wave .... New owners new manager doing relatively well ...attendances over 40k....investment in the club ...improvements around the ground Wembley appearances European football.....id have expected record shirt sales if primark were the supplier !

Getting Nike was a major part of that crest of a wave. Only time will tell, but I'm convinced our shirt sales will suffer because of Macron's involvement.

Major part? Really? It was about as important to me as the electronic ad boards around the side of the pitch, or the renovation of the holte hotel. Nice to have, but insignificant compared to success (or at least the potential for success) on the field.

I think having a decent kit is a major importance to a club. It is in fact what the players play in after all. Much more important than electronic ad boards etc.

Ah now you see, that's a different argument. Having a decent kit and having a big name kit manufacturer are two very different things.

But the big name manufacturer usually make the better kits. Looking at Macron's efforts don't fill me with much confidence. They mainly provide non league teams in this country. Hope they prove me wrong, but I doubt it.

Well if we keep insisting having the checks it doesn't matter who makes the kits.

The checks are an abomination.

Our Nike kits never really looked particularly smart (last seasons were horrible) but all the other stuff Nike supplied - training gear, jackets etc - always looked very smart, I thought.

I saw Fat Sam interviewed the other day in his Macron training jacket and it looked like something from down the rag market.

Fat Sam would ruin the look of tailor made Armani suit

I think we'd all welcome Adidas or Puma, but PF & Co. did the deal with Marcon.

Let's just hope that Marcon deliver, and not just in the logistical sense either.

The Nike training gear looked great but the quality was poor. I generally buy a polo shirt for the summer and most years they shrank.
