Nike have, by and large, done an appalling job as our kit supplier and most people on here want shot of them.

At the end of the day, it's only sportswear.  Whether it's Nike, Adidas, Macron, or Pelada, it's still a load of old polyester tat. 

Hummel were hardly a major player when they started doing our kits (with the exception of the Danish national side, although they went on to do kits for Spurs and Real Madrid) yet the two they did were both classics in their own way.

Does it really matter? If Macron want to give us more coin than someone else then surely that's what matters. People who are appalled are more concerned about other fans will say when they are wearing the kit than anything else.

Macron seem to be a company on the up. if we do go with them we'll be one of their top customers. They are Italian so i'll be prejudice ans assume they are cool and stylish.

I loved that Danish kit. Just looked too busy when they made it for us.

Interesting choice. A little Italian style no bad thing - better than a second rate American shysters should not be difficult. Why though with the potential financial clout that a club like Villa can wield we cannot find a British and preferably local company to produce kit I fail to understand. I would not appreciate us funding the global enterprises of Adidas or Puma either for the same reason - none of them are capable of producing associated ranges of leisurewear with any style and so are wasting the opportunity of the added branding power. Nike - the alleged 'market leaders' have been shoddy and disappointing, although the shirts designs have all been acceptable (see 2001-2 or 1999-2000 if you dont know what I mean). If we end up with something like Macron are supplying AZ Alkmaar with it might be good...

Whoever makes it, it'll be claret and blue and it'll have a Villa badge on it. If you don't like it, don't buy a replica. If you have kids, they'll probably want one no matter who makes it. It's up to you whether you use your prejudice against a company that as yet have NO CONNECTION with the Club, and even if they subsequently do, surely they're entitled to unveil their designs before we lay into them?

I think you're missing the point - our financial clout has nothing to do with it.  The manufacturer pays us to make the shirts.  I think you'll be very lucky to find a local company willing to cough up the millions we'll get from this deal.

I think they're a good choice to be honest.  My old rugby club got our kit from them, they were very willing to listen to requirements (even for smallish sides on low budgets) and the kits provided were well made and exactly as ordered.  If you then look on their site the basic shirt design and material seems to be the same between sports so I'd suggest they use the same equipment and fundamental design philosophy just making minor functional changes changes for specific sports.  After the poor quality, paper thin, shirts of the last few years I like the idea of a sturdy well made kit that will last well.

If you look through the kits they make and look at the 'traditional' kits for those sides you can see that in general they've realised that the main theme of the shirt has to be set by the club, they just add small flourishes to keep things fresh (go on their site and look at the Monaco kit for a good example).

It's nothing to do with Villa. The suppliers pay Villa to supply kit and split the money. Apparently we sell @ 100,000 shirts a season. Liverpool get paid around 25 million a season. As I said before Macron wii have offered the most cash and thus won the deal.
