Apologies, I haven't looked at this thread for a bit. Kevin Keegan? Piss off.

I never had major issues with Gerard Houllier. Pretty gutted it didn't work out (health wise) for him during his time with us.

Of course managing the Noses has made a difference. ANY other manager would have been cut more slack, would have been given more time before the keyboard warriors turned on him, he has had absolutely zero honeymoon period and I have never known that happen with any other appointment.

That's not to say he was the right choice, just that suggesting it is irrelevant where he came from is niaeve in the extreme.

Houllier didn't get cut any more slack. Not sure Dolly did either, if we're honest. I think it's just intellectually lazy to assume the SHA connection is the biggest factor in this. It's the crowning turd in the waterpipe, to be sure, but the fact is that if SHA had finished in the top 6 last season, we'd all be panicking a lot less.

Certainly didn't make any difference to me, and I also wanted us to sign a couple of Blues players in the summer; the connection doesn't bother me one bit. But you're right about the honeymoon period, Chris, which is why the appointment absolutely staggered me in the first place - McLeish is a shorter, er, leish, than probably anybody else would have been. The board must have considered this. In a way, I feel sorry for AM but he has barely any margin for error.

January is huge. If we're struggling big style and the oppurtunity comes up to sign a player to get us out the shit, like last Jan it'll be interesting to see if RL/PF give AM the oppurtunity to show what he can do with the funds.

He was replacing players with that money, that's different to buying someone to save our neck.

Problem is I'm not confident he would be able to utilise said player effectively. If we're in that much shit come Januaary I'd rather the cash be spent on his compensation

Only stupid people give a stuff that he managed the Blues.  Most of the stick from the sensible camp is based purely on the fact that he's a crap manager, who relegated Birmingham twice and plays shit football.  We're playing awful football under him, as just about everybody predicted.

I'm still yet to hear a decent response from anyone defending McLeish re the style of football we play (obviously, I'm not involving labelling the critics as "keyboard warriors" as much of a decent response here).

I'm sure there are some people who can't let the Blues thing go, but the fact remains, the majority of people don't really care much about that. If we'd nicked an incredibly successful manager from them, we'd have been cock-a-hoop about it.

We haven't, though, we've nicked one who plays terrible unadventurous football, and that's what we're seeing now.

the reason I didnt want him was , I looked at Blose football , nothing to do with him managing  them but the style he played . I gave him my support , but my Mcleish batteries are now running out .

11 wins in the last 52 prem games is serious relegation form . 20% win rate , that is appalling .

He had two wins against top 10 opposition last season , not good enough , we have better players than they did which kind of makes it worse .

I expected more team spirit and a better defence , the team spirit is as bad as GH reign and the defence is not much better and the football has got alot worse .

I don't think I've seen you post anything other than that on here. Ever. We could be winning games 10-0, with 30 shots per game and 90% possession and you'd still complain we didn't have 95%, 35 shots and more than 10 goals.

You are the eternal pessimist - this is what Villa does to you. Let it be a warning to all.

Brilliant! Keyboard warriors? Over 26K posts Chris, most of those supporting sh*t managers.
