I'm at a loss to explain why we're so bad. Yes, McLeish is a poor manager, but while his Blues team were playing dull and defensive anti-football, it didn't look as disjointed and hapless as our team. I'm starting to wonder if Alex McLeish actually tries to make us play more positive, but the fact is that neither he or the players know how to do it, and the result is performances like the one yesterday. My speculation is partly based on his touchline antics and Dunne's obvious frustration. Maybe they're over-reaching.
No, I am pretty sure he is happy with the style of football we are playing.

Sanchez Flores.

Waiting in the wings for the job, gone on record saying he wants it, loads of European experience, managed some very credible top European sides, Valencia, Benfica, Ath Madrid.

Just be the very fact that he said he would jump at the opportunity to manage Villa says to me get him, rather than the old merry-go-round of out of work British managers.

Lets break the mould and go for it.

We need someone with a bit of umpff.  I'd look at someone like Nigel Adkins.

He took over a club in Dubai last month.

Please Randy do the right thing for the future of the club.

Since May 2010 has he managed to do that?

Rafa Benitez is rumoured to be on his way to PSG after angling for a job at PL side for almost a year. (He has rejected Blackburn (when they appointed Kean) and WBA (when they appointed Hodgson) though.)

Van Basten praises O'Neill's Villa ahead of Ajax clash
Author:  Andrew Allen
Posted on:23 October 2008 - 3:59 PM

Ajax manager Marco Van Basten has paid tribute to Aston Villa ahead of the UEFA Cup group match between the pair on Thursday. The former World Player of the Year knows his young Ajax side face a stern test in Thursday's Group E opener at Villa Park. Van Basten told Aston Villa TV: "We have a lot of respect for a team like Aston Villa. They are a big club with a big name and a lot of history. It is a special game for the Ajax supporters.

Van Basten added: "We want to make small steps to re-establish ourselves in Europe. It won't be easy, especially against teams like Villa."

Nice words.  I wonder what he's up to now.

Reading that and seeing the state we're in now is just heartbreaking.

He's done plenty of good things for our club.

The problem is, they were an increasingly long amount of time ago, and since then, he's been nothing short of a disaster.

It isn't all about throwing money at the club. There's also real leadership. We have had none of that.

I would have kept Mcallister and Sid Cowans as assistant, the last few games of last season the team were playing well with no fear. Its as if he said just go out there and play how you want - full of confidence.

Maybe not a big name manager but won it all as a player!

He's still got a lot of credit in the bank with me. He has my respect, he's done a lot of good for this club and i don't think any of us should forget that. If he feels we need to cut back financially and get the wage bill to a manageable level, then that's fine as well. He's got it horribly wrong with Mcleish though. I'm sure he could have found a manager who fitted in with what he wanted and one who would have got us playing a better standard of football. Small Heath managed it.

I'd love Hiddink but that will never happen, so Lambert or Hughes for me.
