The BBC show Wimbledon.
If he was 142 in the world he would still be in it.

In fairness, he made three Grand Slam semi-finals and a final, and reached number two in the World. He is unlucky in that he happens to be playing at a time of three of the greatest players of all time but he still did well. I'm not saying he should win, but top ten seems reasonable to me.

am telling you now, theres no way in a million years that the every day sports fan in the street has said 'tell ya what i'm going to vote for that bloke that rides a bike fast'  they havent heard of him, never mind find a personality,
internet campaign/fix would be my guess

Well I voted for him and didn't rely on a text or a tweet or a poke to make me.

You sound bitter, John.  You'd rather that we were typically parochial and gave it to the fat bloke who throws arrows?  Cav's World Champion in a world-wide sport.  Winner of five stages this year (and a career total of twenty) in the world's most celebrated bike race - including completing a hat-trick of wins on the Champs-Élysées.  And best of all, a Sports Personality who quashes that particular oxymoron as he actually possess a personality.

He's a top man and, as someone who likes his cycling, I'm delighted that his achievements have been recognised by the wider sporting community.

So because you haven't heard of the fastest sprinter in road cycling, the man who has won 20 stages in the greatest cycling race in the World and one of the hardest sports events to even finish never mind win things in (most cyclists would kill for ONE stage win never mind 20), the first Brit to win the green jersey (I won't explain it, it's not worth it with people who can't be arsed to broaden their horizons) for fucking ages and the first Brit to win the Rainbow Jersey as World road-race champion since 1967.

No campaigns, no fix, Cavendish is just fucking brilliant, an utterly worthy winner and also one of the most humble (whilst also remaining as cocky as those who just know they are the best) sportsmen around, his first words tonight were to congratulate the GB team that won him thet World Championship.

Rant over, jog on.

Luis Suarez eh? Fancy that.

EDIT: Sorry, you're talking about the BBC Sports Personality. I thought we were on about the BNP version, my bad.
