For the first time in a long time I didn't touch the amber nectar at an away game, due to the fact I drove
pre-match to meet a true Villa Legend (Nigel Sims '57 FA Cup Winner)-

Therefore I viewed the match without seeing two of every player - and in particular followed the movement
of Ivanhoe in his midfield role-

Movement is obviously the wrong description because he hardly ventured from the centre circle, and when he
did it was in the folorn hope of getting on the end of a punt up field from Shay Given or the centre backs-

Whatever Mr McLeish sees in him is a mystery to me and might I suggest a majority of other supporters-

The late introduction of Jenas & Bannan was like a different team on the pitch yesterday -

IF (a big one) Emile has to be in the squad please let it be warming the bench ................

Maybe we're all wrong and Heskey is like a film that you have to see 2 or 3 times before you get it (no film immediately springs to mind) except in Heskey's case you have to watch him for 3 or 4 seasons.  Maybe once he's gone to Leicester on a free we will realize what he was all about and what he brought to the team.

ah dear. there are players that yer average fan doesn't see what he does for the team and lets face it, Ivanhoe has a pretty impressive list of ex-managers to back him up. A fair few trophies in that lot. BUT, when you can't see it yourself and the stats don't show it, you do wonder what these experienced and in some cases, winning managers see in him. Like i said - An Enigma.

I'm extremely confident that the club will offer Heskey a new contract. Firstly, McLeish favours him alot so he'll have a say about it. And secondly, the board are so thick when it comes to football they'll actually do it without realising what they've done.

I also think Collins will get a new contract as well. McLeish himself said he wants it to happen. Then while these 2 shit players still remain at this club we would have to ship out more quality to lower the wage bill.

If you forget about all his anti football tactics for a second you'll also see he's also destroying the future. He doesn't use the kids effectively, decides to leave Clark rotting on the bench, sends Gardner on loan who we would do with, yet still allows the majority of deadwood to play that should have pissed off by now.

I really wished we kept Houllier. He was the answer to bring us to the modern game. But  we remain in the dark ages with this stone age manager. This is the MAIN reason why I want him gone. There's just no future to look forward to because I know for a fact he'll leave us a terrible legacy just like MON and it'll take us years to push forward. I also think he'll relegate us if he's here for 3 years and that would really destroy us.

Bollox! And there was me thinking Compass was really Martin O'Neill, slagging off the current manager in the hope of being reinstalled, not that he stands a chance as he never has a good word to say about the owners either, the nutter.

Time to guess again. Peter Pannu?

Even putting aside the footballing reasons, giving a contract to him would be throwing money down the drain. Such a lack of prudence would be unforgiveable, as the strategy of the club may be frustrating enough, but to not even do it well would be desperate.
The money would be better spent on a footballer.

The money would be better spent on almost anything. I really can't see him being offered a new contract. I'd almost offer him one just to read Paulie and Risso's posts. In fact, bring it on.

I don't know why Compass keeps wobbling on about Houiller either. He said himself he's unlikley to manage again due to his health. How simple can that be?

Heskey is a big earner, I believe. No way will he get a renewal, well.... I hope he won't get a renewal. I look at it like this, if Emile Heskey was out of contract at another club at the end of this season, would we sign him? I'd like to think not.

I think Heskey gets a raw deal generally, but he really is only useful in one position and that's as a big presence (admittedly often horizontal) up front in a 4-4-2.  Winger or central midfield lynchpin he is not nor ever will be, but sometimes managers get crazy ideas in their heads that can't be shifted.

I'd be careful about calling him an enigma, Suarez and Terry got into trouble for allegedly bandying phrases like that around (OK with Blatter though).

If we hadn't already got 2 forwards, that in a 4-4-2 wouldn't work, i'd say, go on, give Emile a go, but Gabby & Bent seem to have some sort of understanding, therefore Emile isn't needed up front, therefore, there isn't a place in the starting XI that meets the strenghts of his game. Sorry, Emile, maybe I'm harsh, but youre a giant lump of an average centre forward that doesn't score goals...

That better be a very unfunny joke.
