History question:
« on: November 27, 2011, 09:36:32 PM »
Was this guy once President of Villa?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Musgrove

I see that this gentleman is/was certainly based in the West Mids area. I remember seeing the name or a name very similar to this in the programme when I used to buy it, way back. I only ever saw the name though and never heard about him in any public context to do with the club, nor in any other context.

Or am I thinking of someone else altogether?

Martyn.

I suspect that you're actually thinking of Malcolm Musgrove, who was coach at Villa Park in the 1967-1968 period, immediately pre-Docherty, and whilst Tommy Cummings was our manager. MM died of Alzheimer's in September 2007.

No, Harold Musgrove was our president in the early nineties. I remember him chairing an AGM once.

I worked for him (well a few steps down the ladder) at Austin Rover and clearly remember him surfacing as our President a few years later.

I believe he was our President from 1988-96. Prior to this he was President of Small Heath Alliance.
