Incredibly insensitive from the captain.

A Houllier, touch the crest type foot in mouth.
As some one who watched his debut and thought,  "wow we could have someone here", to "well I like him and think he gets slagged off to much" my thought tonight is fuck off and join MON !!!

does he know MON has gone to Sunderland and not liverpool .

It's got quote marks but wait for the... "what I said has been taken out of context" form of apology.

Footballers really are a clueless bunch of people.

What a plank. He's been in the game long enough to know better than that.

Actually, I think it says everything about how far removed your average premier league player is from the fans.

Oh dear.

What possible good could have come from this? For a senior member of the squad, it is pretty brainless stuff.

Then again if they paid 20m for Henderson we might get a few bob from them.

Unbelievable! Truly a kick in the teeth for everyone at the club. When your club captain comes out with a statement like that, then I despair.

The scary thing is that it shows that in football, even one of the more intelligent, studious and sensible players still has the capacity to act like an utter berk.

Agreed. But that's life. Petrov's obviously flunked his latest let's seduce Villa fans assignment.

Oh well, the chairman's just as bad with his cringeworthy "I got a letter from Sir Alex, he wrote it himself, I'm going to treasure it for ever and ever" routine.

if he shook his hand on Saturday, he'll probably never wash again.

I can forgive him his silly comments.  Much more annoying has been  having to watch his mostly mediocre performances at the heart of the team for the last five years.    Over rated and over used.

Just imagine Stevie 'hubcap' Gerrard telling the press how he'd love to trade his place with Michael Carrick.  Hate the bloke but it just wouldn't happen.  Nor would any othe captain in the league do anything like that.  Not happy.

This article helps clear some of this up for me. In case anyone hasn't read it, the Petrov comments were taken from 442 magazine where some kids got to ask questions.

3/ Which player would you swap places with for a WEEK ?

'I'd swap with a Liverpool player because I 'm a Liverpool fan. It'd be great to have that experience , but dreams don't always come true. I've been a Liverpool fan since I was a boy.

4/Who is the Prem's greatest player ever ?

5/What's the most disgusting food you've ever tasted ?

6/ If you were captain of a five-a-side-team, which players would you pick to join you ?

I want to know if he'd take on 3 Drogbas or 1 Richard Dunne.
