And a very good loan spell it will prove to be.

A future midfield fills me with hope.

Carruthers Herd  Gardner Bannan.

May be Albrighton  ilo of Carruthers if he wakes up and smells the onions!

Ooh dear that would be awful! Our future midfield is (for me) definitely:

                      Herd*
             Gardner   Crowley
     Grealish                 Graham

With backups of Bannan, Albrighton, Robinson and Clark (if needed)

Keeping the kids is going to be the biggest thing for the future of the club. Gardner, Graham, Grealish and Crowley are all tipped to be real top class players in their positions, if (IF!) they all keep progressing and fully meet their potential we could honestly be producing one of the best midfields in the league. If we want to get anywhere near the Champions League in the next 10 years, the only way we can do it is to hope these kids can meet their potential, the manager at the time bloods them in properly, and we manage to keep them!

Big if though when your talking about 4 players, 3 of which are 15/16.

*Only if he can keep up this form can see this position being the one we need to bring somebody in to do in a couple of years.

Loaning out Makoun and then selecting Hutton and Heskey (and to an extent Herd as well) in midfield against Spurs do not strike me as the actions of a manager interested in playing actual football, or who actually has a clue how to do it anyway.

Interesting point about Makoun, most of us have forgotten about him. Maybe Herd & Makoun would have made a decent partnership. I think we have enough of the right sort of players now for centre midfield to not have to pick Heskey in that role. Delph, Petrov, Herd, Bannan, Ireland, Jenas and maybe Clark. Surely a decent trio could be made from that lot?

Perhaps the manager will say he was just using Hutton as cover as Jenas was ineligible to play. What ever reason, that is poor planning as, what will happen if we get a couple of more injuries in midfield. We are already playing every game with a striker in midfield!!! Yet, we hear there will be no January transfer activity; unless Bent or Gabby are sold of course.

It is quite a situation where there's a midfield on the bench that would actually beat the midfield on the pitch, which is being ignored by a manager who appears not to be able to spot that.

The future of our central midfield has got to be bannan, jenas and herd/clark. Delph isn't good enough

If petrov had played yesterday he would have made no difference whatsover.

We need to be giving our not so young youngsters game time, not floundering along with the likes of heskey and petrov

Do not like to admit it but i also think Delph is out of his league. Already i would say Gardner is way further ahead in terms of ability and presence. He is lacking confidence. But does not look comfortable on the ball and dives into every tackle with terrible timing ..........

Herd played very well today I thought in the Stan role.

Yes, I've been quite impressed by him. Slightly concerned that he's a bit full-blooded at times and will pick up lots of cards, but he'll learn to be a bit more savvy about that with experience.

And learning that passing is traditionally something you do to players in the same colour shirt as you are wearing.  Other than that I think he is starting to come to terms with the big boys quite well.

I don't think that's a valid criticism. He's a little safe with his passing but I don't think he gives it away.

So Stan would happily swap with any LFC player to fulfil his dream/ambition of playing for them.  Dream on Sweatrov >>>> http://bit.ly/t9X3f0
