A scrappy win ahead of the tough December fixtures.

Swansea 1 - 0 Villa

We should try to win because this is the last approachable game before a terrible series that will se us against the top teams.

After the inexplicable performance and team selection at WHL I can't not in highest spirits, but I like to think that you can't keep a good Villa man down.

The reason why I'm not so eager for this match is that I'm  quite sure that once again
-  the sacred claret and blue shirt will be worn by four unwatchable players that would make William Mc Gregor to turn in his grave, and obviously I refer to: Hutton, Collins, Dunne and Heskey;
- whereas are fit and available Cuellar and three good youngsters that could replace them very well and instead will go on the bench or wil remain at home: Herd, Albrighton, Bannan.

But we are Villans above all. . .;)

Swansea are one of the best passing teams I've seen this season and have conceded just the one goal at home this season (I think) to united.

It will be tough, but if we get at them we can win, we need players who can keep the ball, so Delph, Bannan, Jenas, N'Zogbia should start for me.

UTV.

Bolton put one past them as well, but they've only lost once at home (to United) all season. They don't concede many but (famous last words) they don't score many either (8 at home all season).  I've revised my prediction from a 2-0 defeat to a 1-1 draw - probably 'cos I've had a lot of alcohol since Monday night and the memory of how abysmal we were has gone a bit fuzzy.

Edit: Just checked and the one Bolton put past them was an own goal!

We need the three points and a more positive performance after Monday. I reckon it'll be another draw though.

Stopping down there tonight, i hope the locals are freindly.

Gone for a draw 1-1. My only worry is that after the dogs abuse he got on the forums and the criticism in the media after Monday nights debacle. AM might just send out the same team tomorrow just to show it's him in charge and not us or the press. Add to that his post match quote that some of them "owe him a performance" and I wouldn't put it past him.
Mr. McLeish. Both you and the players owe us the fans a performance we can be proud of.

Blimey, if he puts out the same team tomorrow then he doesn't deserve any more time and patience from the fans.

He's gone on record saying there will be changes to be fair, rightly so. Jenas, N'Zogbia & Bannan should all come back for starters.

He's also gone on record as saying that players who can't defend set pieces will be replaced.  Yet Collins still remains in the team.

I do think there will be changes, how could there not be?

I've said it before this season, and I'll say it again.  Ireland and Bannan need to be in the same team.

Realistically I imagine we'll lose 2-0.

Hopefully AMc will be true to his word and drop the non-trying dross from Monday and look to be less submissive and try and attack Swansea

                         Given

Herd          Cuellar      Dunne     Clark

Albrighton    Jenas   Petrov    N'Zogbia

                   Bent   Gabby

1-3 Bent hatrick

Spent lots of time down there Clampy.  Most locals are friendly but Saturday nights in town can get a bit hairy.  Avoid their version of Broad Street (like you would our Broad Street) - can't remember the name of the road but you'll spot it.   Mumbles, just up the road from 'Abertawe' itself  is a nice place so check that out for little pubs etc if that's your thing.

Apparently Port Talbot is advertising itself as having pubs open early with away fans welcome. No idea what it's like though.

Stephen Ireland takes a lot of stick around here -a fair bit of it is justified, mind. Yet he and wee Barry were at the heart of everything we did well v QPR  in the second half.  And then soon after that match (around the time Ivanhoe returned to something approaching full fitness... for him) SI was banished again.

He might blow hot and cold, but Ivanhoe is consistently Baltic.

It's an eye sore.  But the people are friendly enough.
