Get pissed on? Piss on someone?
« on: November 20, 2011, 03:06:16 PM »
The only time I ever stood at a big game was the Holte's last stand. And what a wonderful day it was. I'd just turned 12 and my feet barely touched the ground.

But this thread is not about that. Just read about Morrisey2020 getting pissed on in the First Gigs thread and reminded me of something I've wondered before.

In a jam packed stand, I presume it was impossible to get to the toilet during a game. I've heard stories of people pissing in the stands, but never heard how people reacted.

Were you ever pissed on? How did you react? Was it just accepted as a normal hazard of the stand? Did it depend on who did it?

Did you ever piss on someone? Or aim in to the floor and miss everyone as much as possible?

Or did everyone just bag it till halftime?

Isn't that whole pissy terrace thing just a Scouse rumour that never actually happened?

Wasn't the 'hot pocket' supposedly a Scouse thing due to the Kop having no gangways?

Unlike the far superior and bigger Holte that did. I never got or saw anyone get pissed on during my years on it. Saw a few people be drunk and have a slash, on the terrace, but not actually on someone.

How dare you! I'm 31. Only stood on the Holte a few times and it was usually cup games and friendlies... never jam packer so I'm not the best to ask.

You're best asking Legion. If anyone's been pissed on, it's likely to be him. Shortly after he accidentally sliced his foot off shaving and just before he got caught in that freak meteor shower.

been to games when the holtes been packed and someone shouts"mind yer backs!' .
remember the piss flowing down the old terraces many times, of course in those days there weren't any women at the games really.

As a kid during the eighties if Villa were not playing or away I would sometimes go down the Blues with a school friend nose.

Main difference between the Holte and the Spion Kop was that plenty of us little uns would stand at the very front of the Holte quite often climbing up the old perimeter fencing a little for a better view.

At the Sty the first few steps of terracing always seemed to be left empty with no kids as was just used as an open toilet!

Remember thinking back then "Animals! - that would not happen at our place", and don't recall any pissing in the Holte in later years when I stood near the back.

Never deliberately pissed on anyone or been pissed on. But I do remember in the late '50's to the end of the "Real Holte" the back wall was an unofficial urinal, which I must admit to using.

I don't recall it ever being a big issue in the Holte, as even when it was jam-packed it wasn't that difficult with a bit of pushing and shoving to get to a gangway and nip to the toilet, but in packed away ends when everyone had been downing the local "pop" it was common to have rivers trickling down the terracing. The Tilton was the worst for that as there was a toilet right at the back which couldn't cope with a big crowd, so everyone would piss up the sidewalls of it, and that naturally flowed downhill and mingled! Hence the old saying "wipe your feet on the way out".

A rolled up newspaper was often used to direct the piss and also soak some of it up.

When I was about 7 my older brother wouldn't let me have a turn on our swing, so as I was standing on the A frame of the swing I decided to piss on him! It took him a while to jump off as he was swinging quite fast at the time.

LP, it was used this way too in the late 70s. We did it occasionally because we could, not because it was too crowded to get to the gents (though it was quite a jaunt from the back of the Holte, swinging under the crush barriers, down the steps, under the stand etc etc)

That's how I remember it, "mind your backs" but the Holte didn't have to be packed for somebody to have a slash.
