If club football was home-grown only...
« on: November 14, 2011, 02:34:08 PM »
i.e.

Only Brummies could play for Villa or Blues
Only Scousers could play for Liverpool or Everton,
Only Mancunians could play for Man U or Man City,
Only Geordies could play for Newcastle,
Only Londoners could play for the London clubs.

etc

Who would win the league?

Would club football in this country be better or worse?

Would the England team be stronger?

Gabriel Agbonlahor, Nathan Delfouneso & Daniel Sturridge. I know they're brummies. Would you count the Gardner brothers? They're from Solihull, according to their Wiki.

Luke Moore. But, if we was picking a team, we'd probably go Sturridge and Gabby up front. Unless anyone knows anyone better?

Hard to say, but as the only two 'world class' players of this generation are Gerrard and Rooney, I'd say one of the Liverpool clubs would be favourite.

Better, probably.

Don't see how - it's still be the better players.

As for what our side would look like, I agree with Gabby and Sturridge upfront and Richards and Lescott at the back.  Where was Cahill born and isn't Foster from Leamington Spa??

Isn't Cahill a Sheffield lad?

But where would you draw the line?  Not all players are from big cities with PL clubs, so is it a county thing or a case of 'where is the nearest PL club to your place of birth'?

Albrighton is from Tamworth, so who would he qualify for?

That's a good way to look at it.
