...so we take off our holding midfielder and send on Ireland, having already sent on a not-fully-match-fit attacking midfielder.

I just don't think that's a very good idea.

No, the main problem was Ireland not getting the block in on the right hand side.

Agree, but Warnock was still not marking his player or was even aware of him!
