Herd: perfect MF partner for Petrov?
« on: October 29, 2011, 06:57:54 PM »
I was really impressed with Herd today and he seemed to give Petrov more time on the ball (and, I guess, for some on here that may be a bad thing ...).
With BB as a  third CMF, perhaps this is finally the combo we've been looking for.

What your view on this?

I would put Ireland for Bannan

Its possibly the best trio we have @ the club

The fact that you are discussing a player to partner someone like Petrov demonstrates how low the club is at the moment. Petrov is a distinctly average player. In fact, I'd argue he's part of the problem why we play such boring, slow football a lot of the time.

How about Herd, Clark, Bannan or Gardner? I'd much rather see them.

Throwing all the youngsters in at the same time was what we had to do last season during the injury crisis, and it wasn't a great success. Slag off Petrov all you want, he isn't a great player, but the moment he's out for a couple of matches, we'll start to miss him.

Think its too early to judge him. We had it over albrighton last seasons and over hogg after manure home. It would be good to judge his character after a bad spell imo

Unlike now, when he's playing week in and week out, and we're a flying success. Oh for the greatness of Petrov.

I don't think anyone thought anything would come of Hogg. Certainly no-one with any idea of football anyway.

Getting a point in a game in which he scores his second brilliant goal of the season is a lot better than yet another defeat.

Which is exactly what we'd be enjoying if we'd played any two of Clark, Gardner and Herd today.

There was talk after the manure game that he'd make it. Its similar with herd, he was awesome against wolves, for half an hour against baggies he was good, I haven't seen him today so I can't judge. But its best for now to cool off and watch how he develops

Wow. Psychic Sally at her peak! What would the score have been then?

Well, we'd have scored one less for a start.

Unless you think that have Clark playing out of position or a child making their debut was going to magically make us score more?

We need someone to play in front of the back 4 and control things. Could Stan do that? Has he already tried and failed? Isn't that what Delph was for? Could Clark do that job? Is that why Herd's in? What do Bannan, Ireland add to the team? And what the f**k are we doing playing Heskey in midfield?
Afraid we have a lot of possibles but none of them are better than anyone else.
We also need to play as a unit that moves up and down the field and keeps its shape. We seem to be playing as 11 complete individuals, not a team.

Sorry. Mad, frustrated whinge!
