Dave are you actually making a point?

Paul hit the nail on the head, we can't buy a win at the moment and Mcleish's team selection and tactics are shite and have isolated Bent.

A confident Bent would have slotted that ball home 6 yards out today.
We can't defend, we don't score many and we have no midfield.

Paul Merson summed us up before kickoff "villa might nick a goal but their not gonna put 3 or 4 past them" and that's against Sunderland.

The point I am making is that today we played a game which almost half of even our supporters thought we would lose according to the poll on here and which bookies made Sunderland strong favourites to win. We got a point and could/should have got three. I would say that's worth a bit of praise to the team, instead of which we're getting constant, repetitive whinging.

What's your point?

The problem is Sunderland are the worst side we have faced this season by a long way.
The game was there for the taking and we didn't,the run of games we now have people are gonna be worried, myself included.
I hardly think that S'land were the worst team we've faced! Wigan and B'burn are the frontrunners for that award.
Having watched the whole game, I thought that Whickham and Bendtner were a very good attacking pairing, Sessegnon was excellent, and their Centre Backs also played well. We did not face a team that was rampant, but they were no mugs.

Well, before the game I would have taken champagne and a quick hand-job from Lauren Laverne in the North Stand. So a draw is not bad really.

Our last nine games; D/D/D/L/D/W/L/L/D and the only 'big six' team we've played is Man City, oh dear. We've won two out of ten league games, both against 18th and 20th in the league who are shite. The football we're playing is diabolical and we can't defend to save our lives, especially set pieces. And to think McLeish's only plus point was that he 'would make us more solid' and 'we won't concede many', whats he got going for him now then? We'll never score many with him in charge so when we can't defend and give sloppy goals away from set pieces that equals trouble.

We HAVE to beat Norwich with Swansea a, Spurs a, Man Utd h, Bolton a, Arsenal h, Liverpool h, Stoke a, Chelsea a coming up. There aren't many points for us amongst that lot and my prediction of 17 points by January is actually looking a bit ambitious.

Oh and Alan Hutton is one of the worst players i've seen in a Villa shirt, absolutely dreadful. And how the feck does Heskey still get picked and play 90 minutes, especially in midfield? He's garbage.

I thought and said with McLeash at the helm we would now start to see games out, it's clearly not the case which is disappointing.  Our defending at set pieces is a joke if it wasn't so worrying.

At 1-1 I thought we'd lose it so to finish 2-2 isn't so bad and an improvement on last season.

Just looked at this thread without checking the score. Judging by the comments we must have got battered - how many did we lose by?

Any US sports journalist would describe this as "Villa lose 2-2"

Yes we got battered in the last minute again as we did against QPR. It is depressing.

Its amazing how people have accepted getting a draw as a good result, when Villa were in the lead twice and couldn't defend/extend that lead.

I call that sloppy and wasteful!

I think bringing Clark in could add a bit of composure to the defence.  We'll lose a bit aerially but as seen in the last three matches we're not exactly shit hot in that area with two big lumps at centre back either.

Assuming Jenas is fit, I'd bring him in for Heskey to see what he can do.

Clark played at Man City, our worst defensive display of the season. I like him and think he has a big future but I'm not sure he's the man to sort out the specific issue we have with set pieces.

It's a frustrating result, not a bad one.

A point away against Sunderland is decent. The let-down so far this season is the number of points lost (through draws and losing against WBA) at Villa Park.

Why do we have to? I think you forget how many shit teams there are in the league. Take out the obvious 4, plus Spurs, the rest are as bad as us and most are even worse (maybe not Liverpool). When criticising us for being shit (which I think we are), I think you forget how crap the league actually is.

I like the fact you managed to get "point" in there three times. It's what we need to start getting as a team. An away point at Sunderland wouldn't normally be a bad result but the fact is the more we go through the season only getting one point at best, the more the pressure is on for us to get wins.

Are you honestly saying that at the end of the current fixtures where we have only played two teams currently in the top 10, you are happy with only 2 wins?

I'm not happy, I think we should have done better but I'm not going to criticise a point at Sunderland.
