Surely with Herd and Petrov in midfield he could afford to start with Ireland? I just can't understand this obsession with Heskey - when he came on last week he ambled around and did the square root of fuck all.

I suspect 4 conceded from corners in the last 2 games had an influence on his thinking.

That may be the reason hes picked him, but he doesn't actually win many headers for a big fella.

FFS Heskey? Why?

cos he's expensive to employ ?

I do wonder.

Would have thought Herd could be used for that - hence why he started ahead of Heskey last week? I'd have brought Ireland in for Bannan rather than Heskey

Poor team selection from a poor manager.

Spot on, why isnt Marc being given a chance to find form like N'Zogbia is!

I really don't like Mcleish.

So would I but I can understand why he's taken a different approach.

I'll back McLeish on that one, as N'zogbia has been absolutely brilliant in the PL for a season or two consistently for Wigan, whereas Marc was good for half a season and faded.  I'd consider N'zogbia the more talented player, and having spent the money on him, its understandable that he'd get the nod of two out of form players.

Did we sell our allocation? - sounds like a few Villa fans are at the ground.

Christ... going into a game with the manager thinking we must have Heskey on as extra cover on concediing corners.

He dont half earns his corn this bloke...

Don't think Albrighton warrants a place at the moment, still wouldn't have selected Heskey though.

Nail on head. Hate him, but Heskey is more use to us than most of the others in there. He holds it up going forward allowing us to get people forward, and defends it in our box.

Oh well, here we go. I'm not very confident about this one at all.
