There was a good article in the Guardian about what Rodgers did in training that someone posted but I think that's buried somewhere in the other thread now.

I think that article proves that it would be a good time to come to Villa. With Lerner and the staff unhappy with the experienced 'pro's' get them out and let him coach our younger players they way he wants. Adaptable tactics etc. Cant see the old guard wanting to change for anyone, as they have proved.

I would get them out before the new man comes in, so that we don't have to go through another season of a manager giving them yet another opportunity.  Heskey has already gone and I would move Dunne and Warnock on as well, so the manager can start afresh without them there.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Ireland moved on if a new manager comes in as well.

There is a lot more to come from Ireland I reckon, and a manager with a more progressive approach will help him to kick on from a decent season last year.

Though in truth, I wouldn't be surprised to see him move on.  If QPR os similar were prepared to take on his wages and offer a decent fee.

I'd definitely like to see Collins, Warnock and Dunne moved on, though realistically I'd settle for two out of three of that lot.  Dunne alongside a more mobile CB might be something worth looking at.

If we get a manager in who likes to play a passing game Ireland could be absolutely devastating.
Also, he's one of the only senior players to have actually performed to any kind of decent level last season so he should stay I reckon.

I didn't understand a word of that.  Changing formation, passing the ball out from the back.....what is this sorcery of which they speak?

One thing that differentiates Lambert from O'Neill is his willingness to learn and develop. I was very impressed that he took Norwich out to watch Barcelona train and discussed the game with Guardiola, he sounded very much like he wanted to adopt a passing game.

Yeah, but can they do it on a wet Wednesday night in Doncaster?

Bugger, I've just checked and neither Norwich or Swansea beat Doncaster the year they got promoted.  Mick McCarthy it is then.

After Brendon Rodgers signed for Pool, and His Mayesty OGS renounced, I'm quite sure that Lambert will be the man. And having appreciated the honest Norwich's approach to the game in these years, and also  the entertaining, attacking, passing football that the Canaries displayed with players that had played only in te lower division, I'd be more than happy!

That is ridiculous. Bespoke tactics, suited to the opposition; goals from set pieces; outplaying Swansea on the floor - home and away. I'm not sure I've ever seen a Villa side that versatile.

Comparisons to MON are wide of the mark for me. MON had one tactic and he generally got it to work very well. But when teams came to VP and parked the bus he didn't have a clue how to deal with it. Lambert has proven this year that he just doesn't run out of ideas when it comes to tactics. Inevitably that will be frustrating at times when he's tinkering but at least it'll be a change from what we've endured for the last 15 years.

Bring it on I say.

I expect we will still be clobbered for Compensation. (assuming we still get him).
