McLeish backs Bent to replace Rooney
« on: October 14, 2011, 10:22:07 AM »
Here.

Nice couple of paragraphs at the end with Bent saying how much he gets on with RL as well.

And if Gabby keeps going the way he's started this season, I should think there's every chance of us seeing him paired with Bent for England.

Rooney and Bent are chalk & cheese.

I like how Gabby has been completely ignored as a replacement for Rooney, with players like Zamora and Sturridge being mentioned. Long may it continue.

Bent is probably best placed right now to capitalise from Rooney being gone and is there any other English striker in better form than Gabby?

But you watch - if he bangs in a couple the press campaign for Carroll will begin and I'm not convinced Capello is a strong enough manager not to cave in to it!

Bent's already in the team with Rooney, as others have said Gabby should be targetting Shrek's place.

He was, but that was with Gerrard out of the picture.  As he comes back, I expected to see him play in that advanced midfield role with Rooney then playing firther forward, so Bent would likely be the man to miss out.

I think Bent will start at the Euros next summer I just hope we can keep hold of him when he returns.

Yes of course  Bent can replace Rooney in the same way as Heskey can play in our midfield.
FFS..........
Different players both need to play together  to make it a potent strike force.

Darren will hurt Randy's feelings when he eventually asks to leave.
