Why was he driving a 40 grand Mercedes? I thought he was on the rocks financially.

That's your Sky subs well spent.

It could be his old car which used to cost 40 grand when he play for whatever club (Arsenal/Boro/Villa/Walsall)

Could be, but I thought he went bust.

If he was drink driving I hope they bang him up for years.
If he was drink driving, and no more, it's a maximum of six months custody / 12 month minimum disqualification.

On his own account he was knackered and shouldn't have been driving. Foolish man.

What I hope and would like to happen to people like him and what actually happens to them may not be the same thing. But if the reports are right, driving drunk, falling asleep at 70mph and hitting another vehicle, he can be thankful he may only face a drink driving charge.

Imagine if it had been a mini or something he hit rather than a lorry. Some poor sod would never be going home and a family would be left devastated.

Difficult to know if he's unlucky or a tw@t without further information.

Well, given that

1. He fell asleep whilst driving on the M40
2. He wasn't wearing a seat belt

I'd say he's an absolute prick for endangering his own life and those of others.

Merse is his own worst enemy, a kind of 'Gazza Lite'.

If he'd had Gazza's talent, he'd probably have gone the whole hog a la Gazza.

He should live in London if he works there more often than not, he may have to now.

As you say, those sentences are if you are pulled over and just found to be over the limit. With the crash as well, a charge of dangerous driving could be added which carries more of a likelihood of a jail sentence of 6-12 months or and the ban will be until a driving test is retaken, and that is harder then you think after driving with builtin bad habits for so long.

The guy should no better, if he's supposedly in recovery from alcohol then even a sip is lethal, and if it is the case that allegedly he was drink driving then he should get what the law states he should get.

Could easily have had the same results as Luke McCormack's and Lee Hughes' drink drive crashes.Irresponsible actions have consequences.
