No, but he did give us the bicycle kick and saved us in the war. It would have made a brilliant refurb if they had combined the traditional with the modern-sort of Arts and Crafts but using hi-tech.
Sadly Herbert's approach to building was like his approach to most things, more suited to tarmacadam the drive than creating a legacy.

Great pictures, thank you for posting. However, a sad reminder for me of how shit modern day football is compared with the memories most of these photos bring back....

Fantastic photos recalling much happier days.

Never could understand why Herbert merely bulldozed the Trinity with no consideration for the iconic status it held. If it couldn't be redeveloped at least they could have incorporated the mosaic somewhere rather than just bunging it in a skip

Knocking down the original Trinity is the worst act of vandalism ever associated with our football club. Visiting Villa Park has never been the same to me since.

Great pictures.

I like the one of Doug ticking off the list of managers he'd sacked, whilst posing with the League Cup he'd won single-handedly.

I particularly like the one of Ugo being swamped by fans in 1996. Pity there are no Tranmere photos on there.

The European cup with Dennis and Alan Evans is wrongly labelled as Mortimer and Morley.

The Tony Daley picture is not taken from one of our runners-up seasons either, the kit's wrong.

Still, some good pictures in there.
