Oh well , just the European Cup to play for then.

Coverage of any victories would be welcome from that season . Thanks though.

Tony B's first game in charge was Southampton the previous Wednesday. Tony M was transfer listed after he fell out with Saunders.

I watched that one at the home end with Spurs-supporting friends. I was still devastated by Ron Saunders' departure and went to WHL with very low expectations. In the event we fought hard and came out of the match with some credit, but never really looked like winning. You certainly wouldn't have thought that we'd be lifting the European Cup a few months later.

I think there is some footage flying around of some game we won in Rotterdam a few months later but I can't remember the details, sorry.

Went to that match on the coach from the Crown & Cushion, Perry Barr, including Johnny Haynes, Hero, et al. Seem to remember stopping at pub in South Mimms on the way back - the Black Horse? - from which we were very quickly herded out, and back on the coach and on our way home!
