Hopefully Ireland will be taken off, I don't think he's even completed a successful pass all game?

Remind me who was that setting up Hutton down the right just two minutes ago?

He's not been great but he's finding space to make a threat.

Delph really has been crap. He keeps on giving it away. It looks like his mind's not there at all.

Ireland has played well in my opinion, and I'm pleased to see how involved he wants to be - dropping deep to get the ball, putting in tackles. I hope they're signs that he is getting his head right.

How bad is Hutton, seriously shit.  Out of position constantly and can't cross for toffee.  Awful.

He gets sold more times than a dodgy car.

I know its early days, but with money tight,he seems like a player we didn't need to buy,not with Herd,Cuellar, even bloody Beye is on a par with him.

He is shocking - Luke Young for him a a serious downgrade

Delph is having another shocker - is there a worse midfielder in the league?

I know some folk on here have a hard on foe him - but for me the only claret and blue he should be close to should have a Burnley or Scunthorpe crest on it

rant over

It would be criminal if McLeish takes off Bannan before Delph.

Have to say, I normally don't like to write players off, but Hutton thus far looks like one of the worst players we've had for a long time.

He looks poor, but has had 3 very inconsistent seasons with the confidence being knocked out of him, and has put some good performances in before now. I know it is hard, but we have to give him a season to sort it. If he doesn't, then ship him out. Luke Young was a much better player mind, as is Chris Herd at the moment!

As for Ireland, I would give him time too. The more football he gets the stronger he gets, the more hungry he looks. His forward runs are excellent and something we have not had in there for a long time, he could have been put clean through 2-3 times with better balls first half, has tackled back and looks interested for the first time this season.

Bannan needs to be central every week at home. The boy is pure class, that left foot is like a wand.

Delph still has the give it away bug from last week - so frustrating - he has potential, and you can't leave him out today with the players around him as we would be even more lightweight, but he needs to learn to keep the ball when under pressure.

when we bought Hutton, Cuellar and Lichaj were out (and still are), Herd had just got injured and that left us with Beye. Young wanted to leave so we couldn't just remain with Beye.

I still think we're playing to deep and need both Dunne and Collins to bring the ball 15 yards before passing it on because too often we're not getting enough players forward.

An huge improvement on the first half last week but know there's plenty more we can give, especially from midfield. Wigan are as expected, pass it about well but no real threat up front.

Overall I think Wigan have looked more comfortable in possession and look more creative going forward, our midfield is non existent IMO which is why every time Wigan come forward within seconds they are down our throat.

But but but............we are 1-0 up....

I have to say but fair play to Pardew. Cockrings for owners, hasn't had much of anything to spend, lost their best players, yet he's got his team playing some very good stuff and they're sitting 3rd right now. He came into the job as an unpopular signing on the back of them canning Hughton who was popular. He's done very well.
