Surely they'll now increase the allocation? They only gave us 1,800 to start with and the game is over a week away.

They've been out for ages though. Nobody really seems to be interested. Everton will have sold tickets in the Upper Tier now.

I asked the ticket office if they were taking extra tickets upstairs and they said no, so if they've gone then that's our lot.

They have to pay for all the ones they don't sell, and over the course of a season that's a lot of money. As Tommynib said, they've been on sale for ages and we only sold 1,800 so it's hardly their fault if they didn't think we'd sell another thousand-odd in a week.

Don't you think it's become a self-fulfilling prophesy though Dave?  We've been turning down the full allocation at various grounds for a while now.  One the reasons we always have a good crowd at Blackburn is the good availability of tickets.

I think we may have sold them a bit quicker if they'd given us upstairs, downstairs at Goodison is not great. Not only that, it's a ground everyone's been to about 10 times already and with QPR next where we have'nt been for a few years, maybe some people fancied that instead.

The tickets we did have, though, took a long time to sell.

Taking smaller allocations in recent years has made away games a right pain in the arse now though & I think the message is getting through to the occasional/non-regular away supporter that there's probably not much chance of getting a ticket unless you get in early, or if it's against Wigan/Blackburn.  A lot of people don't know if they can make it until a week or so before kick-off & there's almost no chance by that stage.

I do blame the home clubs for the most part - for example, Everton still have around 10,000 tickets available for the game against us.  To pass-up the sale of possibly another 1,000 away tickets beggars belief.  No wonder they're in the crap financially if that's an example of how they run the club.

Anyway, got any spares Dave?

You're missing the point Tony. It's taken over 4 weeks to sell 1,800 tickets. The chance for the occasional away fan to buy a ticket have been there for a while. It's no good leaving it until the week leading up to the game because there's a good chance a game will sell out, which it as.
