Good luck to him I say. He looks brilliant. Would love it if he manages to do it in the very biggest games in a way he never really managed for villa.

it was interesting to see his wayward passes and crossfield balls go to manure players because they actually moved for the ball...

thats one of the main differences between when he was here and there, and he will most certainly look better for it...

same with cleverley, who had half the goals and assists of albrighton last year from being at wigan, and now not looking out of place at manure..

playing with better players in a team that is set up properly instantly makes a player look better because it more than make up for individual inadequacies...

playing players in their correct positions is a good start...

It reminds me a bit of when Steve McMahon left us back in the eighties.  Players blossom with better players around them.

With the inevitabilty of him leaving, it was Man U I wanted him to go to. I could see Fergerson doing a similar job on him to what happened with Ronaldo - taking out the silly histrionics and developing the player. I am pleased to see how well he is doing.

The other half supporting PNE has always followed players who leave them for premiership clubs, and enjoyed seeing them do well. I think the most gutting thing about the situation with Ashley Young is my realisation that I may have hit that same mentality and what it tells me about our place in the over all scheme of things.

Wildly off topic, but talking of Preston, did you see their keeper score a goal this weekend?!  Cleared it up pitch, it bounced and missed everybody, and into the net.

In fairness to Ash he has looked fantastic for them so far, and good luck to him. He has made a step up to a better side.

I don't see that as a sign of stepping up. He's playing with much better players, he hardly needs to step up. When he does it in the Champions League, I'll see that as a step up. I've no doubt he will though.

That's it. Last season  he was running us and not concentrating on what he is good at. Number of times when we were desperate to get an equaliser  he was taking free kicks from our own half. No one told him what to do or how to play with the team. Fergie has sorted that.

Agreed. It was obvious Ferguson was going to sort him out from the loose cannon he was for us the last season and a half, to the hard working, extremely talented team player we all know he can be.

In 1967, both Peter Shilton and Pat Jennings did the same.

Who was that keeper who came forward for a corner on the last day of the season as his side desperately needed to score to stay in the league, and scored?

Jimmy something.

What a fantastic video! It should be in the thread about dwindling crowds, that's the kind of drama we've been missing! Those are the kind of moments where it doesn't matter whether it's for The Champions League, or as that was, to stay in the league, those are what football is all about.

Although to be fair, I think the Blackburn semi final had a touch of that with going 2 goals down, oh and that last minute equalizer at Everton - bringing us nicely back round to Mr Young!

Didn't he only play about 5 games for them and they released him during the summer after that? I always thought that was a bit of a shoddy thank you for saving them!

Watching MOTD2 last night it just looked very weird seeing him celebrating a goal in that strip.
