The Frenchman added: "Stewart is a very modern player".

Too fucking right he is.
A money grabbing, self serving, sack of shit.

The Frenchman added: "Stewart is a very modern player. He can attack and defend and was involved in so many goals for Villa last season.

"He is one of the best crossers of a ball in the Premier League with [either his] right or left foot and is very skilful.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

2 things gerard

he can't defend

he can't cross with his right foot and continually cuts it back to his left.

But then again I wouldn't expect anything more from the bloke who prefered Pires to bannan and played gabby as a left winger

Which Stewart Downing is GH talking about FFS!
"He can...defend/cross with his right foot/is a modern footballer"

Perhaps he can Gerard, but he f***in didn't - that's why we're glad to see the back of the slimy little twat!

Sort of sums it up for me why I wasn't  keen on GH - talks bollocks, which is mostly what's in his head!

Only bit about us:-

He added: "It was disappointing that Villa couldn't keep Stewart, but when a player does not want to sign a new contract you have to get the best deal you can and then find a replacement, which is what I am sure Villa will do."

Can't argue with that.  If we get Parker and N'Zogbia for the money we'll be better off as a side.

“He has the right mentality, the right attitude and was absolutely committed to coming to us, so we are delighted.”

So says Comolli

So am I, he was a wuss, a money grabbing Judas with no moral compass, and a perfect fit for them

oh and we made a nice profit on him too!

And people say Faulkner has no idea

liverpool lover praises liverpool signing shocker...

one think i find hilarious about this whole situation, is the change in stance that bin dipper fans that i know have had about downing...

when he was with us, he was "shit, downsyndrome, garbage, a player of villas standard, etc etc etc"...

since it looked nailed on he was joining them, their stance started to change and now hes the "perfect foil to supply" the other over priced, over rated, shitbag with no loyalty morals or intelligence, andy carroll, and its a great signing and just what they needed...

Oh yes - remember Crouch when he signed for Villa. The reports of the national media were '..typical Graham Taylor signing a big man up front to suit his style of play...' Switch forward 2-3 years when he signed for that lot '....Crouch is an astute signing and will bring options to Liverpool and given them an added dimension....'

Personally I think Downing is a typically over rated England player. One of a very many in the last decade. I can't remember an important game when he played well. Looks pretty half way line to edge of box and his end product should be much better. And he has no positional sense when defending. Ludicrous money for him. We paid 50% too much for him though thankfully Liverpool overpaid us by 70%.

Nice to see a Liverpool fan excited about one of their close-season signings.
