1980's League Cup Games Vs WBA
« on: July 16, 2011, 02:12:58 PM »
We drew them in 81-82, 83-84 and 85-86. Anyone got any specific memories. I seem to remember Tony Morley getting sent off in the tunnel at HT in the first one and us coming back from two goals down in 85-86. The game at The Hawthorns in 83-84 was pretty nasty as I recall and I think Gary Owen got sent off for hacking down Birchy on the touchline before Dennis Mortimer got the winner. They should have had more sent off and it's amazing they didn't because I'm pretty sure Clive 'The Book' Thomas was ref that night.

Just one specific memory - I got a smack in the face off one of the Baggies on the way back to my Dads car. Twat.

I remember going to the 2 games in 85/86. 2 - 0 down at the Villa and coming back to force a replay thanks to a Simon Stainrod goal.

Replay at The Hawthorns in the snow. Won it 2-1 and had my glasses mangled in the celebrations when we scored the second goal ! Lost a lense and watched the rest of the match with a hand over one eye !

Happy Days !

The 85/86 games are the ones I can remember, the game at Villa Park was 2-2, chuffed we got level fron 0-2 down due to an annoying baggies fan at school and me hating each other. The stick I gave him after we beat them in the reply was sweet.
