How does politics impact on my life in real terms?
Tell me the difference?

Politics isn't about voting once every five years; it affects your entire life. Your job, your working environment, your children's education, your income, how much money you have at the end of the week,  how often the bins get emptied, how many police there are in your area, food prices, the price of everything else, public transport, private transport, whether you feel safe to walk the streets at night. Do you seriously think all this isn't political?

Alex mcleish becoming villa manager made a huge diiference on my life.
David Cameron becoming pm did very little.
Tony Blair is and was tory lite who made very little if any changes for the greater good and certainly sent working class children to die in pointless wars.Where does political change come from after new labour failed?

What difference did McLeish make? Did it get you promoted at work? Did it pay your bills, earn you extra money, alter your childrens' prospects? Or did it just piss you off a bit?

As far as I'm aware there are two members of this board who can say football has that sort of impact on our lives - me and Mat Kendrick. Anyone else who thinks the same needs to get their priorities in order.

Really?
Pretty much every decision Cameron and his government make will affect you in some way whether you realise it or not.
McLeish becoming Villa manager should really only affect a very small part of your existence unless you have your priorities badly askew.

Without being patronising I just cannot see the importance of politics anymore and I was and still am a politics student of sorts as all the big battles were fought and lost in the 80s.my bins are collected the same,i pay tax pretty much the same,we still are sending kids off to die and politicians are still self serving publicists who look after the people who support and vote for them.Do teachers and trade union members as a rule vote tory?rhetorically they dont so they get hammered. The disappointing thing is that new labour supported big business so if you are left wing there is no where to go.

You're a politics student but yet you can't see how the government is more important to your life than Alex McLeish?

It's what you are living in, rented or mortgaged. That has a value which is reflected in the rent or instalments and certainly in the local council tax.  The revenue from which is distributed according to priorities which are determined by local and national government, not necessarily anywhere near you.

It's which supermarket has won the right to be the closest to you.
It's now much tax you pay in your payslip and how that is divvied up.  Or how much you can expect to claim in between jobs.  It's whether your pension is worth a bean.

It's whether all of your family can use a free at the point of use top quality health service.  It's whether your kids have a reasonable school to go to, rather than a sink
horror.

It's whether anybody is bothered about the environment we live in and is organising the destruction of waste and the provision of clean water.  It's whether there is a power company to buy heating from in the winter; or electricity anytime.

It's the provision of gritters when it snows, home helps, libraries, looking after the aged and vulnerable and yes, the parking and speeding regulators.  I didn't ever say it was all good!

It doesn't matter whether or not you can change it, it affects you.

Actually, what massive impact did Alex McLeish have on your life?

Villain1975 is right though In my view. Where I live If I voted for my choice and fiddled it so I had 1000 votes it wouldn't make any difference to who got in. i can have an opinion but it means about jackshit who my MP is. so my input as to who runs the country is not even 1 in about 50m. and as about half the country cant be arsed, how can what I do affect the running of the country. And being a Tory on a site where the majority appear to vote Labour, to be honest on here Villa are more important

Was the political student. There is no vote for me personally where i live, was my point as nothing has changed in my life and I have no vote other than a tactical vote for liberal which is worth nothing or a vote for labour who as i said are tory lite.

You can get involved or moan about choice.  you can make things happen or moan about choice.  you can sit on your arse and moan or you can do.

That's about it. really.

Alex Mcleish being picked as manager 100%  more affected my life as football is so much more important and as has been said umpteen times he is not the right choice but that aint the debate.

You had no vote in who became Villa manager either.
