I think money from the Rugby benefactor (Cecil Duckworth) may be the only hope but it seems unlikely. The ground in the middle of the motorway roundabout plan or whatever it was seems to have died a death.

Or we could merge with Harriers, Redditch and Bromsgrove (all fellow financial basket cases) to form the Worcestershire all-stars, playing in a super stadium outside Droitwich.

Hasn't Worcester got a fairly succesful egg-chasing team that they could ground-share with?

I thought that but apparently one or other of the parties don't want it.
Ideally Wusster would stay at the rather marvellous ground they are in now but it's prime real estate.

ok then.  its Rugby Town v Gornal Athletic in the FA Cup this Saturday.  You've got a supporters team in the pre match tourney starting at 11.  cost from New St is 25 mins and £4 each in a group of 3 and admission to ground is £8 adults, £4 concessions. Free parking if you're driving.  Great licensed bar and excellent catering facilities.  Ground 10 min walk from station.

Worcester City is a fine old place. The press box in the Main Stand is like the Marie Celeste, full of cobwebs and ancient cat shit.

I shall be at Tipton or Rugby.

Public Service Announcement

If anyone is going to some far flung outpost on one of the London Midland lines, they are currently doing a half price sale of off peak tickets if you book online in advance.

I'll probably be coming down on the coach with the Gornal team. (Perks of knowing the chairman!)

So are the mighty Worcester City. 3pm v Corby. Come and see a fine old football ground before it's demolished for housing in a couple of years and the club disappears. Just follow the floodlights to get there (and how often can you say that these days?)

If you show your season ticket tomorrow you can get in for £5 at Worcester.

Cecil Duckworth offered Worcester a new ground a few years ago but the Worcester board turned him down and now there is a real prospect they could go out of business when the ground gets sold.
