Dunne played 32 league games in 10/11 so it's not like McAllister brought him in from a bomb squad.

I know it was a few seasons later. But ultimately the damage caused by O'Neil is what led to our relegation. In my opinion. As I have recently intimated on another thread on another site (BBC), if I was asked to list the best managers since Docherty, O'Neil would be somewhere below D O'Leary.

He did more lasting damage for sure mind you O'Leary would have done so given the chance.

MON did the same at Sunderland who in turn replaced him with DiCanio of all people.

MON is an egotistical, alebit meida savvy. pillock who's reputation post Larson inspired Celtic when stripped bare is not all that great.

Yep. Absolutely spunked a golden opportunity after finally getting shot of Ellis and left the cupboard bare for the next man.

07/08 We won 5 of the last 16
08/09 We won 3 of the last 15
09/10 We won 7 of the last 20

08/09 Last 2 games of season were wins against Hull who got practically no points post Browns pitch dressing down. And Newcastle who were as good a relegated and utterly dire.

Means 1 win from 13 other matches.

Arsenal were there for the taking in the league we got 4 points off them and were 5 or 6 clear of them and finished miles behind

Using hindsight absolutely but at the time it was fantastic and had Phil Dowd not been such an incompetent biased twat he would likely have got us silverware

Hate the calculated way he left and the subsequent stories of those that were there at the time show the way he ran the place was so old fashioned - imagine a really good manager having the finances Lerner gave him…new defences every year might not have been needed

Especially when he had Cahill coming through the youth system.

Warnock is a thoughtful pundit, he was one of the first to see what Emery was doing and seems to get it. Unfortunately Sky like sucking the plums of the usual suspects with their pundits so we’re left with the Carragher/Neville/Richards buffoonery.

I’ve made my feelings clear on MON on too many occasions now to get involved in yet another blood pressure raising debate.
