Jimmy Greaves was fucking AWFUL as a football pundit.
His usual insightful remark whenever a striker missed an easy chance, was

'Well, you've got to say, he should have hit the target from there.'

Yeah, that's a good point. I think he was employed more for his character / personality than his insightful remarks. I always quite liked him myself, but then again I wasn't really old enough to know any better. If I had to bet I'd say he was slightly more insightful than Shearer is now tho lol

I miss Saint and Greasy.

And when I say miss it, I mean they should have been up in front of The Hague for Bore Crimes.

Always remember the B-lose game at home in the LC in 1993 and watching the highlights later that evening. Greaves was adamant Deano was offside -and persisted with that nonsense even when it had been made clear to him you can't be offside in your own half.

That was the baffling thing, for an ex-professional, he seemed to know fuck all about football basics.

Didn't he persist with those natty t-shirts for every game during the World Cup in 1990.

Every game a new comedy slogan.

Wanker.

Yep, he went on and on about it like we'd just broken the first law of thermodynamics or something.  Instead of not actually breaking any whatsoever.

"Greaves currently on a two man talking show with Paul Gascoigne"........... I bet that is absolutely rivetting  - two ex footballers and alcoholics who pissed all their earnings up a ceramic wall.

read his autobiograthy and its memorable for actually managing to make you dislike him more than before. Its a ringing endorsement for the qualities of alchohol as when he stopped he turned into a right miserable sod.

I'm sure they've both got some great stories to tell. If it was the two Pauls, McGrath and Merson I know I'd probably enjoy it.
