I suppose having the Fergie seal of approval should count for something.

About this Fergie thing. He was hardly going to advise that we break the bank to get Ancelotti.

Our owners are obsessed with  Fergie's worthless opinions.

Hardly worthless, the bloke was won everything worth winning for 20 years although why they didn't keep his advice to themselves rather than splash it over the front page of the website is what I'd like to know.

Fergie only cares about himself and Man U. Anything he says about other clubs and other managers must in my view be seen in that context.

Precisely, and anyone who believes otherwise - after decades of Fergie's antics in the game - is as naive as our board appear to be.

At the risk of sounding naive, why is Alex Ferguson so enamoured with AMc?????

Because he knows he will still get 6 points off us and a FA Cup win..

I agree with a fair few on here that Mcleish has shown genuine courage and I am sure he will make all the right noises about now being at a big club though his record stands out as one of mediocrity at best.
The problem i now have is with the board who have shown such disregard for all fans whether it be rational or irrational doesnt matter as football clubs live and die with their fans and some will never forgive.

Never mind whether he does well or not, they didn't ask us. How dare they run their business as they see fit.
Didn't you once say that we are customers when it suits the club, supporters when it doesn't?

I can honestly say you're the first person I've come across on here who actually wants him as manager.

I am quite happy with the appointment. Don't expect too much dressing room unrest now. I expect a fully fired up side for the new season.

and the Fergie seal of approval was given for Djemba Djemba.

Was it, I don't remember that. Where have you got it from, surely you haven't just seen it posted on the Internet and taken it as gospel.

Clearly, McLeish is a mate so he's hardly going to slag him off but the fact that he made him captain shows that the best manager in the country and probably of all time rates him. It's no guarantee of success but shouldn't be dismissed just because it doesn't suit your standpoint.

Steve Bruce,Roy Keane, and Bryan Robson also captained under Fergie's management and they like Eck became mediocre managers.

Bruce, Keane and Robson have to date won nothing as managers. McLeish has.

Either way, it still has to be their decision to make.

They would have done if they'd managed Rangers as would anyone.

It's short for Alex.

Actually it's short for Alec.

Apparently people used to call him Alec McLeish instead of Alex. Some sort of weird scottish joke.

Thanks. How the long winter evenings must fly by in Scotland.

What about if they'd had all had a chance of managing Small Heath?

Good luck Alex and welcome to the Villa.  Let's now all pull together and get behind the man.

People are quick to point out that he got Blues relegated twice, but how many of their managers havent?  Goes with the territory over there.
