Oh my god it gets worse !  Did he really manage to steer Rangers to 3rd in a 2 horse race. That takes some doing .
Just imagine what he could do with the backing of a board

The statement is awful. Using terms like 'unquestionable' just invites criticism. In fairness, the quotes from Feck himself are pretty sensible, but this Faulkner guy is a prick.

Based on?

I feel that the use of language in the statement is provocative and the content is littered with inconsistencies and conjecture, causing further damage to the relationship between the fans and the board and the buck stops at Faulkner (as I presume that he would have final approval on such a statement, correct me if I'm wrong)

Terms like 'unquestionably' and 'not in question' and 'proven abilities demonstrate clearly'  are statements designed to say 'we are right, you are wrong', and I feel that it is a tad passive aggresive.

I am seriously amazed that anyone can attach that level of importance to an announcement on a football website. It's seriously weird.

Edit: apologies for repetition of the word 'seriously'. Seriously.

Could I suggest starting another thread so we can have a micro-analysis of the club's statement? Aren't some people exhausted enough after the last few weeks?

What you on about?  I know some may class it as lowering expectations, but I'd settle for 3rd next season 8)

he also managed rangers to 3rd place in a 2 horse race

He also took Motherwell to 2nd it the same 2 horse race that they weren't even in.

By your previous reasoning on his Hibs relegation 'I don't think something like that way back in his career has any real relevance to present day PL football.'
We can discount his Motherwell achievement then.

Weddings, holidays etc getting in the way, you know, rather get down to business etc etc.

Oh and it's a hugely unpopular appointment as well.

If they want to sell us this shit how about fronting up and having the courage to back this decision? I mean Randy as well. He doesn't have to answer any questions, just be there backing his man for the photos. Show a united front and you might get some fans back on side. We continue to look foolish and now we look like cowards.

Fair enough, but then that just brings us back to an average CV all told.

McLeish's CV is average, not shit. But it's volatile: 9th in the PL and a Carling Cup with Birmingham is impressive; getting relegated twice in four years isn't. My feeling is that if things go his way, he does his thing and does it well: grind out 1-0 wins and scoreless draws by parking the bus. But he gets into restless waters, he doesn't have what it takes to steady the ship, cue Birmingham's free-fall at the end of last season.

Would you cancel your holiday and wedding because you'd pissed a few folk off at work?

What I find strange is that many people on here wanted David Moyes, anyone checked his CV ? 3 years at Preston where he won the Division 2 title and 10 years at Everton where he has won nothing. Not exactly the stuff of dreams is it

Some people thought he would be a great appointment

Just got back off holiday and it seems in that time Randy has lost the plot.

Absolutely nothing to suggest McLeish is the right man for us, regardless of who he used to manage, and that's without even mentioning the other candidates who were available.  A trophy is good but set against two relegations and utterly shite football and it all looks rather ominous.

I'll support the team come what may and I will hope to be proven wrong about the manager but I now have huge reservations about Lerner.  He's basically had two major decisions to make since he came here and he's fucked them both up.

But he's not a bluenose!

(That was a sarcastic comment by the way)
