the more this thread goes on the more obvious it is that the hope has been sucked out of every last one of us!

from Ancellotti - Benetiz -Martinez (quite obvious he did turn us down now) - McLeish

we are a selling club now (dont give me the nonsense about every club being a selling club), who are going to be happy finishing mid table and maybe get a run in one of the cups

happy fucking birthday me

Get a life mate, its not that bad.  why would randy suddenly start selling off and devauing the asset he owns.

Welcome to Villa Alex. It will be a bumpy ride for the foreseeable future but positive results will take care of that. You're not a popular choice, but you're not the anti-Christ either. Good luck and prove everyone on here wrong. You're at a very, very good football club. Take advantage of it.

Taking away his connection with Blues (and how boring is the contanct referral to our neighbours!) his football pedigree stands up as both a player and a manager.

Ignore the 3 relegations and somehow managing to fionish third with Rangers, and yeah, I guess his foiotball pedigree as a manager does appear ok. But it'd be bloody stupid to ignore those things, so it doesn't. He's got a record that is, at its very best, quite bad.

Minced lamb face: "...By the time Alex took over at Rangers they weren't spending the kind of money which they previously had, so he did a great job. In all his jobs he's had to deal with that kind of situation of making do with what you have and making the best of it, and that's a quality he'll need at Villa."

Or something like that (words in bold are a re-imagined version of the edited sentence).

Can't pretend to be happy with the appointment, but I'll give him a chance to prove he's up to the job. Good luck, Alex, you'll need it.

The statement is awful. Using terms like 'unquestionable' just invites criticism. In fairness, the quotes from Feck himself are pretty sensible, but this Faulkner guy is a prick.

'he won two championships and seven trophies in total in his five years at Ibrox'. For starters, the 7 trophies include the 2 titles, but then they go on to say 'he became one of the only current managers in the PL who has won a major piece of silverware', intimating that his trophies from Scotland, aren't worth shit anyway. Also, Rangers apparently unseated Celtic by finishing 2nd in the league to them.

And what is the relevance of his father's job? I couldn't give a shit if he was related to William fucking Wallace, tell us about his footballing credentials. On second thoughts, probably best to avoid going into too much detail there.

That's my firmly held view of Lerner, and one that as a poster on here I am free to make.  I have no respect for Lerner as owner of Aston Villa Football Club

Out of interest, which slant are you coming from on that?  To me he's a good owner in that he's well intentioned and prepared to invest, but has shown over this that he and his board might not be the right men to guide us through the cut throat world of modern football.

So do you think he's a) a charlatan who has spent a few bob to get us on side, b) an incompetent idiot or c) both.

I simply do not believe the first and think the 2nd will be proven by what Mcleish does in the job.

c) both

Just because Pelty had a pop at you.......... 8)

Tbf I'd have said he's as qualfied as MON was. Won plenty up in the SPL and won a league cup against the odds with a small team.

My main problem is the style of football is going to be completely dreadful, far worse than under MON.

Agreed, he comes across as one of these Scudamore generation business school tosspots.

I've seen this '3 relegations' thing a few times now, but surely it was just the 2 with the Dark Side?  Has this now become accepted as it's been mentioned a lot or have I missed something?

to make money?

loss of 39 million last year + the payoffs to GH, MON and now Birmingham

young away for 20 million - downing to follow, how long before Bent wants to go?

anybody with any sort of ambition (and worth a few quid) will be out the door

but sure get a life and cheer up

One was with Hibs.

I know I could probably Google this, but who was/is his backroom staff?  Spink left did he?  Be good to think Sid/Kevin Mac will stay.
