Welcome Alex, who should be judged from this point on the results from his Villa team

And so it begins.....

Not remotely happy but he's here now and we've got to get on with it. Like everyone else I'll be taking an even keener eye than usual on who gets shipped out and who he gets in both in terms of players and staff.  The opening fixtures couldn't have been kinder for him so no excuses

I need to get over my Pavlovs dog type hate reaction to seeing his photo, as i feel sick,  realising he is our manager.
Disappointed, very disappointed.

After the spin on that piece, Pravda is f**king right.

Hate, hate to be writing this - but can' be positive, and  i really really want to be.

After 30 years of following Villa - I can't honestly remember feeling this flat, i  really can't. Any credit Lerner had with me has now gone. The grand 5 year plan has ended with this - fucking madness

When GH was pensioned off i thought we really could find someone to push us on - the summer to date proves that our board really have not got a clue which direction they want to take Villa - for me this is illustrated by our desire to talk to Martinez, who whether we thought he was the right man or not, has a totally different football philosophy to the twat we have appointed. So the board want us to be a footballing entertaining side - or they want us to play negative shit and be hard to beat, make up your mind!!

I couldn't give a shit about SHA or what he did at Rangers/Hibs et - couldn't give a fuck, bottom line the guys plays football with as much flare as one of Russell Brand's jeans.

As the hairy bard himself would say - if this doesn't end in tears i'll eat my ball bag.

AY is off - Downing will follow i have no doubt and who in their right mind will want to join Villa this summer with the toxic atmosphere that is BOUND to come to the fore especially if he starts badly. He's been lucky with the first 6 games - but this is a double edged sword - we will be expecting a goodly amount of points from those games - god help him if he doesn't deliver

Sorry for the negativity - i just can't find it in myself to be magnanimous and fall in behind him - even though i know i have to and eventually will - not like i have a choice.

In summary - piss flaps!

Oh F-Eck.

No great surprise, but quite unbelievable.  From a progressive, forward thinking, technical manager to this.   May as well stick Alex Ferguson on the Villa Board  when he retires from management since he already appears to be running our club.

Randy, General I no longer have any any faith in your fitness or ability to run our football club.  You very clearly do not know what you are doing.   If you think restricting you shortlist of managers to last season's relegation candidates and a mediocre ex-England coach, and recruting the worst of the bunch, is the right way to go about things then you clearly don't have the slightest clue.  Especially when the likes of Jol, Hughes, Ranieri, all proven at the top end of the PL, were available.  How you could arrive at this decision is just un-be-fecking-lievable.

Alex is not to blame for his appointment, that responsibility lies with Randy,PF and Ken Dodd's Diddy Men who I assume were our advisors. Despite the lunacy of the appointment, I will support McLeish just as I would any new Villa manager. He's a decent man who I'm sure will give everything he has to make things work.

I trust others will not put self interest before that of the club. Remember, football is a funny game and fingers crossed, this just might work out.

Good luck, Alex.

Stupid decision from a know-nothing owner who has given up.  Ah well, fuck him.

As Peter O'Hanraha-hanrahan once said, "I don't like it, but I'll have to go along with it."

Alex Ferguson isn't interested in running Aston Villa. He's interested in having his mates managing other PL clubs because they'll support him in his coming spats with the FA, referees, Kenny Dalglish or any one else that isn't towing the line.

I think Randy Learner needs a new instructor (advisor) to show him how to drive the club forward..

Welcome Alex, hope you surprise us with enterprising attacking football and bringing the youth through to be top notch players.  Hope all your managerial purchases turn out to be gold as well.  Hope is all we have left, and there isn't much of it to go around.

I think he is going to need all the luck in the world!

Now to get some players in before the last day of the summer transfer window.

Best of luck Big Eck. I have some admiration for him taking the job, clearly has balls and confidence in his own ability. Never disliked him even though he managed Rangers and Blues.

However, I will start the call for Faulkner Out!! Randy please appoint someone to that position who has some knowledge of football, some nous with the media and some respect for the fans. This has been one of the most undignified, desperate manager hunts and at present we are the laughing stock of the League. Randy you must back Eck to restore some pride. If >30 million isnt spent this summer, there will be no ambiguity that the shared vision is Premier League survival.
