Even up till the last minute I didn't think RL could go through with this, I'm appalled. What a kick in the bollocks. Did I mention I'm appalled?

The 52-year-old son of a Govan shipyard worker,

Interesting how nobody has picked up on this important point in other threads.

The board think he's going to be our Fergie. I hope they're right. Welcome Alex. Your new bosses have thrown you into the lions' den. Let's see you come out fighting - and winning.

Yes, based on talking to the real Fergie.

Good luck big man.

Entering a manager search hoping for Ancelotti, Moyes or Benitez, it takes some time and sulking to digest that McLeish is the outcome.

And avoiding McClaren only to appoint Big Eck is a bit like dodging a bullet and later getting hit with a cannon ball.

I have been hoping that Villa would do an eleventh hour backtrack, but now it's done and dusted. So even if his recent dismal record doesn't inspire much hope, there's nothing much to do except to wish him luck and hope that he'll surprise us.

Is Sid staying or has he brought his own staff with him?

He should, and will, be judged on signings and results.  Exactly the same as Ancelotti, Benetez or even Mourinho would have been.

"Shared vision and compete as best we can" thanks Paul I'm fucking inspired to spend £600 on that dream. Good luck Alex but the board had proven it is a shambles over this.

Apologies for the re-post but it seems so appropriate.
