How do you feel about Alex McLeish being the next manager?

I have a problem with us appointing a manager who in three seasons of managing in the PL has gone down twice.

The fields of Aston will be flooded with the faithful and loyal soldiers of Holte to tackle this beast, but alas.....they will not triumph....despite there valiant efforts the General has turned his back on them, he has walked into the valley of death, he has broken from the good and turned to evil.
The Prophet O'Neill also warned of this day, he fought valiantly to defeat it but has retreated to a safer promised land.
These days will not last forever, for good will always triumph over evil, but they will linger. Darkness will cover our blessed land , we must be prepared.
Solidarity is key, our history is key, our traditions must remain in place , our position above this darkness must always be remembered until we break free of this curse. For not alone will we defeat such a monster, not alone will we win, but together we will triumph. A few of us may fall and never be seen within our walls but they will return when the darkness lifts..and rejoice for the Dark Days will be defeated.

Serious question though, can you even imagined the likes of Bolton or Blackburn hiring a manager who has taken another shit team down twice?

The board talk about Premier League experience, yea McLeish certainly has got experience in the Premier League department of being relegated not only once but twice.

Being relegated twice in three seasons shows your just not a very good manager managing in the Premier League.

"Ok, so they've done a lot of good since arrival, revamped the Holte pub, invested in the playing staff to a level, stopped child seat prices in the middle Trinity (OK maybe not that one) but I think the following are important negative factors in what is going on here:

The mysterious departure of Richard Fitzgerald and Michael Cunnah.

I’m not one to start screaming for the Randy Out or Faulkner Out or any such knee jerking, I’m just pointing out that there have been significant failings at a high level and its time they started to correct matters."

I don't doubt their abilities to run a sports club in terms of marketing etc. but they really are not football people, and I think that is where we may come unstuck. Faulkner, I don't think, hasn't cut his business teeth in the football world except for the last 5 years under Lerner. Ironically someone like Houllier would probably be ideal for this role, because of his knowledge, but also because he is looking increasingly out of touch of how to manage a team close up. I got shot down for this at the time by alot on here. Events since the end of the season solidify this view for me as more evidence of dithering and incompetence. This board have no understanding of how to run a premier league football club. They need to go off and buy out a supermarket or some such similar business.

You'll keep hearing it until he achieves something worthy that will help to make it fade on his CV.
There would be an uproar if we appointed relegation happy Glenn Roeder, this is very similar.

I agree. I'm not particularly happy either but we could try treating the guy in the same way as we might hope to be treated in a similar position

That's right, we've all been in various degrees of apathy about this appontment but it's now time to unite and hope to McGrath that he's a good as the Board believe he is for us.
