Mcleish was manager of possibly Blues' best ever seasons.

That's simply true and I agree with you.
Football fans, and not fanatics= anyone who is objective can definitely can see the positives if McLeish becomes Villa manager

And the worlds shittest banner award goes to .....

`Anybody who makes a banner in order to photgraph it and post the picture on the internet is a cock.'

If I had a clean bedsheet I'd write that out in excrement and upload it to Twitter

How many of those 8000 on Facebook actually contribute to the club? Apart from providing the idiot media with ammunition.

The eternal optimist in me hopes that the board might be using all the furore around this to their advantage.

Plans may be at an advanced stage to bring someone in, but -if he's under contract- it pays to keep schtum and not offer up any morsels of information. Even if it is frustrating for us.

The McLeish resignation might purely have been coincidence, yet useful also. Us contacting them- even informally- soon after  sends the bookies and various messageboards into meltdown and provides the perfect cover for them to get on with the real job of appointing the best man available. McLeish certainly doesn't come into that category and I refuse to believe (at this point) that the club could be so way off beam and out of sync with the wishes of the fans.

Hopefully, come July 2nd (maybe even sooner) we'll all be saying the club played a blinder on this one again - as they did with the Bent deal.

That is a great plan and I do hope your correct. If it is and a manager out of work there is no other way for it to leak either.
I like your thinking, I just hope it is the same as our board.

I honestly think that we already have our man in place - but rules are rules - and all this nonsense is exactly that.  Papers and bookies are filling their boots and we're all getting sucked in.  It's a case of don't believe everything you read in the papers in my view.

Surprised, no amazed, that almost 13% currently consider appointment of McLeish as 'good idea'
but accept that everyone is entitled to any opinion no matter how bizarre it appears -

The general ground swell of opposition to what 'might' happen could not have escaped the notice
of someone within the club, and it doesn't need tacky banners draped over the railings at Villa Park
to show our disapproval - the person responsible has scored the proverbial 'own goal'

I like this plan too.  If Blackadder had a plan it might have gone along these lines.

You must have blind faith. If there was ever an example of how not to recruit a Manager we have demonstrated the perfect method. A complete balls-up from the start - and the pantomine still has a few more performances to run. Our board are so out of touch with the majority of fans its laughable. Why we're pissing around like this when Hughes is available is crazy.

I'm sure if we approached Fulham now that they have Jol in place some sort of arrangement could be agreed. We've contacted Blues when they haven't agreed to let McLeish go.

I don't believe this grand theory that we've squirrelled away a legendary manager and not one person in the press has got wind of it, but you're talking like the club is run by a bunch of idiots who blindly and irrationally pick names off a list. I don't like Villa being in the media for these reasons any more than you do but like everyone, the press abhor a vacuum and have as much clue as the rest of us. I tend to think Villa have probably made mistakes in their strategy but I'd be astounded if it's as insanely depressing as the headlines are making out.

I'm clinging to the hope that somehow this is all an eleborate roose by RL to direct attention away from our real target, a top European Manager or David Moyes.  That McLeish is simply a divertion.

The comments from Sir Graham though about his surprise that we didn't have anyone lined up and seemed to be jumping from one candidate to another in disorganised fashion has worried me.

It's fine that a bunch of novices like us think it's odd, most of us have never set foot inside a football club boardroom and certainly never been in negotiations for a senior football Management position, however when a highly experienced and respected Villa man like GT comes out with it I start to worry that maybe, just maybe, they don't know what the fuck they're doing.
