How do you feel about Alex McLeish being the next manager?

Atleast the banner is sending out a clear message.

Tying a banner to the holte end gates which says McLeish isn't welcome BEFORE we've even appointed any manager does show how strongly villa fans feel about this.

He's definitely a Villa fan.

He treated the club like shit when he was a player here, apparently didn't think we should sign Bent and seems to think McLeish is the manager we need. I'd hate to see what he'd do if he didn't like us.

To what extent did he treat us like shit? I can guarantee that he is Villa through and through.

The fact that in his time here I can only think of half a dozen or so times he played well or particularly looked like he gave a shit. That European away game (can't remember who off the top of my head), WBA, Liverpool, second half v Arsenal, that goal v Madrid, and Spurs.

By the same token, how didn't he treat us like shit when he was here, or how did he show that he was Villa through and through?
It's easy to say now he gets paid to cover us a lot.

Well said PeterWithe'sShin. He was a catostrophic signing that ultimately cost Little his job, upset team morale more or less straight away and delivered about 7 decent performances in 2.5 seasons for £7million. A complete and utter waster of space.

We finished 4th in 96 and 5th in 97. Collymore was signed in 1997 - the rest really is history as we became a shadow of the team of previous 2 seasons and Little went to be followed by Staunton and Yorke soon after.

Little should've acheived so much more as Villa manager, he was a cracking manager. It's strange how there aren't many ex-Villa players as managers out there, they're all bloody pundits on tv, Gray, Mcinally, Merson, Dublin, Townshend, Collymore.

Trying to put a positive spin on things (I know it's hard), Mcleish was manager of possibly Blues' best ever seasons. They finished 9th and then won a trophy and he did it with no money, a bunch of Villa rejects and some not very good players. The first time they were relegated he didnt have chance to do anything, and this time he was hit very hard by injuries. Does that do anything for anyone???
