How do you feel about Alex McLeish being the next manager?

This chest thumping over McLeish is pretty pathetic though. On purely football terms I'd not be overjoyed with him but the fact that he managed BCFC doesn't matter at all. No use singing 'Villa Till I Die' on the Holte if you take flight with tribal posturing when our club selects someone who managed Blues. Get over it.

Perhaps people don't think he's good enough for the job.

I've always rated Eck to be honest. Small heath were relegated in spite of him rather than because of him imo. I appreciate that I'm in a minority here but I reckon he would do well with us.

The important thing to remember is that the current Villa board don't tap managers up. I'd be very surprised if Randy flew to Corsica to convince McLeish to break his contract. How they handled Martinez proves this. McLeish has resigned because he couldn't stand working with that shower any longer. The reaction from the Blues board shows that they have had no official contact from Villa.

Eck won't come over from the dark side. Not because he worked down in the hot place but because his team could not score or defend. He is just not good enough for a Club of our size and aspirations.

Furthermore he and his Family would be in fear of their safety from that lot.

 Idont buy the waffle about him having a good track record. 2 relegations in noseland make him a legend we dont want, a team which dont score unless an extended line prop is playing, with a thuggee style midfield and little skill does not recommend itself. Forget the Blues link, his style and record is not good enough.

I'd have thought two of our criteria would  have been a manager who plays good football and a manager with a good track record of success.  I can't see how a bloke who has got Blues relegated twice, and was almost universally panned for the dreadfull negative football they played last season, can even be considered. 

The only thing that could possibly commend this is that it will piss the Blues hierarchy off, although probably not a good proportion of their fans who were  very criticial of McLeish last season..

I'm afraid if he is appointed, when the likes of Jol, Hughes and Benitez have been available,  it will be a sure sign that Randy and Co. simply do not know what they are doing. Can I change my mind about Shteve?

Just reading through some of the posts and I have to say that if the owners were swayed by the negative reaction to Shteve, then there should be even less chance of them considering Eck.  Surely they wouldn't be that daft would they?

I cannot believe for one second that Randy Lerner would be this stupid, McLeish has resigned because of internal issues and I for one am keeping my season ticket money in my pocket until this is resolved.
He won't be coming to us.
